The official web site of the NIGHTWISH keyboardist and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen has uploaded a 30-minute audio interview with Holopainen as the first installment of the site’s “Campfire Sessions”. You can now listen to the chat at this location. It is also available for streaming below.

NIGHTWISH‘s August 3 performance at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany was professionally filmed for a concert DVD and Blu-ray, tentatively due before the end of the year.

In a recent interview with Ghost Cult Magazine, former AFTER FOREVER frontwoman and current REVAMP singer Floor Jansen — who has been performing with NIGHTWISH since last October — was asked if she would be willing to front NIGHTWISH permanently if she were asked to fill the slot.

“I’ve been asked to fill in for the current world tour and for a couple of festival dates, but what will happen after that is still unclear,” she replied. “NIGHTWISH will take a break after the current touring cycle and they’ll make a decision next year. Until then, everything is still up in the air.”

She continued: “If they would ask me, I would be very flattered and I would love to do it. It will be a major overhaul in my life and my career as a singer, but then again, we’re not rushing things.

“Both the guys in NIGHTWISH and I have experiences with previous band breakups and all emotions that come with it. It’s almost like dating. Things feel good and it’s going well, but we’re not in a rush to tie the knot, so to speak.”

Regarding how she looks back on her experiences as a stand-in singer for NIGHTWISH so far, Jansen said: “It’s still too early for me to really reflect on the whole NIGHTWISH adventure, because there are still a couple of tour dates pending, including some summer festivals.

“What can I say? It’s an incredible ride and it feels really good. Things went really well from day one. The timing was really awkward, because Annette Olzon just left the band and there wasn’t really time to rehearse with the other NIGHTWISH members. Anxiety levels were running high, because replacing a female singer mid-tour is a hazardous experience, to say the least. They were running the gauntlet to make sure that none of the remaining tour dates had to be canceled. They were scared and so was I.

“Things went surprisingly well.

“It doesn’t matter where you perform, YouTube will be plastered with movies of the gig the next day, so I really gave it my all. Everyone in the band and crew were really supportive and all the positive reactions and the warm acceptance by the NIGHTWISH fanbase was beyond my wildest dreams.

“Some people would rather see someone else fronting the band, but you can’t please everyone.”

Jansen made her live debut as the frontwoman of NIGHTWISH on October 1, 2012 at Showbox Sodo in Seattle, Washington following the abrupt departure of the band’s lead singer of five years, Anette Olzon.

Holopainen has known Jansen for more than 10 years already, having previously toured with her former band, AFTER FOREVER.

Asked about the reasons for Olzon‘s sudden exit from the group, Tuomas told U.K.’s Metal Hammer magazine: “I’m sure it came as a shock to everybody. We came out with a statement [regarding the split], which pretty much says it all. It still is a private matter, and that’s all we wanna say about it, like, ever. It was an amicable divorce, so to say, and made in good spirit, and we are just looking to the future. There really is no reason to go back into all the details and all that. I mean, this is not politics, this is a rock band.”

Regarding whether there is a chance that Floor will become the official new NIGHTWISH lead singer, Tuomas said: “The way that we have decided is that we’re gonna continue with her until the end of the festival season in 2013 — just have fun, just do the shows the best we can. I mean, the atmosphere in the band is so good at the moment, [we want to] just enjoy this what we have right now. They try not to think about NIGHTWISH at all for a few months. Everybody take a little vacation. And we already have the rehearsal place for the next album booked in 2014 — from July to September. So that’s how far we have planned. But when we do the last festival show next August, after that, it’s gonna be total nothing for a few months. So I would say everything is possible, but that’s really not the thing that we want to be thinking about right now, because there’s absolutely no reason to.”

According to The Pulse Of Radio, BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi has posted an update at his official web site in which he recaps the band’s just-finished North American tour, while also revealing that he headed right back into the hospital for more cancer treatments as soon as the trek was completed. Iommi wrote, “Well, we’ve finished the U.S. leg of our world tour. It was a bit longer than I would have liked as I’ve already been in hospital having another infusion. The tour was amazing though, you always hope it’s going to go well but you never know, it’s great to look out and see so many people of all ages.”

SABBATH has been touring in support of “13”, the band’s first album in 35 years to feature Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and singer Ozzy Osbourne playing together. Iommi wrote, “The new songs have been going down well, we’ve played them enough now so we’re comfortable and that helps the performance.”

Iommi revealed in January of 2012 that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma, which is described by the Mayo Clinic as “a cancer of the lymphatic system, the body’s disease-fighting network.”

He described his “infusion” treatments to the Birmingham Mail earlier this year, explaining, “I have to have an antibody administered by drip every six weeks or so to keep the lymphoma in check. It sort of coats the cancer cells, stops it from going anywhere else. I have to come back home no matter where I might be in the world.”

He added, “The tour dates are arranged so that I can always get back for treatment. It’s the only way I can manage my illness and keep on the road. I’d love to play more shows . . . but my health has to be sorted out first.”

The legendary guitarist said that his treatment is a relatively new process and doctors are not sure what all the side effects might be. He also said that it “takes around 10 days to fully recover from each round of treatment, but if that’s what it takes, I have to accept it.”

BLACK SABBATH will next head to South America, beginning on October 4, to be followed by European and U.K. treks.

According to Kirriemuir Herald, next year’s edition of BonFest — the annual event celebrates the life and music of late AC/DC frontman Bon Scott, who died in 1980 — will be moved from its usual May time slot to the August 15-17 of in the hope that this will coincide with the unveiling of the Bon Scott statue which is planned for the center of his hometown of Kirriemuir, Scotland. There are also plans to bring camping to the event to try and address the accommodation problem in the town.

The Pulse Of Radio reported earlier in the year that AC/DC gave its endorsement to a campaign to get a statue of Bon Scott erected in Kirriemuir. The band posted an item about the project on its official web site and pointed to the site of DD8 Music, organizers of the campaign, where fans can donate to the project’s fundraising drive.

DD8 Music‘s Graham Calloway said he didn’t speak with anyone from the band before they promoted the campaign on their website.

Guitarist Malcolm Young told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that Scott‘s spirit has always stayed with the group. “He’s always there,” he said. “He never left the band. That’s just the way that we are. You know, we’re very tight as a unit. It’s the reality of it all. You just never forget. There’s so many stories with Bon, and it creeps in every day. And if it’s not one of the band, it’s a fan.”

Individual members of the group past and present have offered their support previously, with former bassist Mark Evans saying last September, “It’s so amazing that Bon is getting honored like this, especially since Scotland is such an important place in the history of AC/DC. Bon already had a street named after him in Kirriemuir and now this!”

The statue would be the second of Scott, who was born in Kirriemuir in 1946 but moved with his family to Australia in 1952. An Australian statue honoring Scott has already been on display since February 2008.

The singer died in 1980 at the age of 33 from alcohol poisoning. He sang on AC/DC‘s first six studio albums, including “High Voltage”, “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”, “Let There Be Rock” and “Highway To Hell”.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD singer M. Shadows has posted the following message on the band’s official web site:

“Dear friends, I wanted to start off by thanking those of you who came out to the three shows we did this weekend. We had a great time getting out of the studio and preparing for our ‘Hail To The King’ album release. We are excited about the 27th and we hope you all are as well.

“The reason I’m writing this is to shed some light on a few things we will be doing this fall besides touring and promoting ‘Hail To The King’. First, I would like to let you all know that for the past 18 months we have been writing and developing an iOS / Android-based mobile AVENGED SEVENFOLD game.

“Without revealing too much, I will just say that it is an action-adventure game. It has been written and developed by the band and with our friends in Subscience Studios. It’s turning out awesome. We can’t wait to show you more when it’s ready.

“What we can show you though is a trailer for the new ‘Hail To The King’ animated series that we and our friends at Machinima have been working on. The game and the series will go hand in hand with each other. We hope you enjoy them both, because I know we have had a great time developing them.”

AVENGED SEVENFOLD has continued its ongoing relationship with game publisher Activision by contributing a song to the final pack of downloadable content for the wildly successful game Call Of Duty: Black Ops II. The final content pack, called Apocalypse, will be available on the Xbox Live online entertainment network from Microsoft on August 27. Among its features will be a Zombies experience called “Origins”, which will include the brand new AVENGED SEVENFOLD track “Shepherd Of Fire” from the band’s upcoming album “Hail To The King”.

“Hail To The King”, AVENGED SEVENFOLD‘s sixth album and the follow-up to 2010’s chart-topping “Nightmare”, is out on August 27.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD will begin a fall headlining North American tour on October 3 in Chicago, concluding on October 26 in Las Vegas. Support on the road trip will come from DEFTONES and GHOST.
