BrooklynVegan is now presenting “King Worm,” the latest new track to be revealed off Comadre’s upcoming self-titled album. Check out the track right here or in teh player below.

BrooklynVegan’s Fred Pessaro writes, “My best guess is that you’d probably call Bay Area band Comadre’s sound an offshoot of screamo, but that dirty word is far from fitting for a band this adventurous. On their self-titled effort, the band mixes bits of emotional hardcore with post-punk, Murder City Devils-style punk-n-roll, and all manner of rocking…”

The following press release was also issued about the album: “Out January 8th on Vitriol Records, ‘Comadre’ sees the long-running Redwood City, CA band wield a newfound command of melody and structure, incorporating trumpets, pianos, organs, accordions, and tambourines into the mix. The album was produced by Comadre guitarist Jack Shirley who has also recorded albums for Graf Orlock and Ghostlimb.

“Pre-order the album here. Look for Comadre on tour in 2013. To date, the band have played Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Mexico, on top of numerous US and European tours.”

Canadian act Woods of Ypres is on the road in North America for the band’s headlining “Pain & Piss” tour, and is also taking fans along for the ride with a series of exclusive tour blogs on MetalSucks. Now half-way through their month-long trek, the group’s bassist Shane Madden has posted the second part of the tour blog. An excerpt from the new blog follows:

“I really hope that isn’t my appendix. Sudden, inexplicable pain on the road makes you realize it would be an especially inconvenient time to have an organ burst. Also, I think the drummer has gangrene. Poison ivy is devouring his right arm at an exponential rate every day and it just doesn’t look right. We’re two weeks into this weird trip and no one is falling apart on death’s door quite yet, but there have been enough figurative assaults on the organs of the tour machine already. The Midwest is an unforgiving place for what we’re doing.”
