TOOL has released a statement to explaining how a misunderstanding between the band’s guitarist and a fan led to speculation that the group had completed its new studio album.

“Last night, Adam Jones, in a private conversation with fans attending the Portland TOOL concert, joked that the band’s new album was not only finished but coming out the next day,” the statement reads. “Unfortunately, his off-the-cuff joke was taken out of context. Work on the forthcoming album is ongoing and as soon as it is done, trust me, we will be the first to let everyone know.”

Jones posted a message on his Twitter profile stating, “FYI, ‘The record’s done and it’s coming out tomorrow’ is what I said yesterday, followed by ‘just kidding. . . ‘”

TOOL kicked off its spring tour at Veterans Memorial Arena in Spokane, Washington on Tuesday (March 4) with a two-hour collection of fan favorites but not a single new tune in sight. According to, the Los Angeles band opened its set with “Hooker With A Penis” and blasted through hits like “Vicarious”, “Schism” and “Jambi” before ending with the triple knockout of “Forty-Six & 2”, “Ænema” and “Stinkfist”.

The instrumental members of TOOL have acknowledged working on new music for a large portion of the past year, but have yet to give any sign that they are ready to hit “record.”

TOOL‘s last album, “10,000 Days”, came out in 2006. The band has toured a few times since then.

Keenan has kept himself busy with his Arizona wine-making business and his band PUSCIFER, along with doing some live work and a little new music with A PERFECT CIRCLE.

Omaha, Nebraska based hard rockers EMPHATIC will release their new album, “Another Life”, on October 22 through Epochal Artists Records. The band enlisted the help of drummer John Tempesta (THE CULT, ex-WHITE ZOMBIE, TESTAMENT, EXODUS) to lay down drum tracks for the CD, which “is filled with gigantic hooks, powerful melodies and is an inspiring triumph over adversity,” according to a press release. The album is the group’s first to feature new frontman Toryn Green, who was previously the singer of FUEL and the touring vocalist for Finnish cello rock band APOCALYPTICA.

Produced by EMPHATIC guitarist Justin McCain and co-produced by Ryan Greene at Validus Recording Studios in Los Angeles, “Another Life” showcases EMPHATIC‘s newfound sense of maturity and creative firepower as they belt out a powerful dose of hard rock. Rejuvenated creatively, the band is now firing on all cylinders with a lineup that matches the intensity of their songs.

The lyric video for the CD’s debut single, “Remember Me”, can be seen below.

EMPHATIC is best known for its major label debut album, “Damage”, which produced the hit single “Bounce”, and landed on the Billboard Heatseekers chart at position No. 9. The CD was produced by Howard Benson (THREE DAYS GRACE, HALESTORM), and featured A PERFECT CIRCLE‘s Josh Freese playing drums on the record. From there, the band went on to take part in the Carnival Of Madness tour alongside hard rock heavyweights THEORY OF A DEADMAN, ALTER BRIDGE, BLACK STONE CHERRY and ADELITAS WAY.

“By and Down” will find its place on upcoming “Three Sixty” collection.

A PERFECT CIRCLE, the multi-platinum rock band helmed by Maynard James Keenan (TOOL, PUSCIFER) and Billy Howerdel (ASHES DIVIDE), will release “Three Sixty”, the outfit’s first greatest-hits collection, on November 19 via Universal Music Enterprises (UMe).

The release also includes A PERFECT CIRCLE‘s first new original, studio recording in a decade with the inclusion of “By And Down”, a song written after the band returned from their self-imposed hiatus for a series of live performances throughout 2010 and 2011.

Billy and I created A PERFECT CIRCLE out of a now long-running friendship, and I think the music we have made reflects that personal connection and has given us the ability to further develop and trust our intuition,” explained Keenan. “I feel ‘Three Sixty’ is an accurate representation of that friendship and those instincts.”

In a brand new intervie with, Keenan stated about “Three Sixty”: “Of course, record companies always have their little clause in their contract, about their right to release a greatest-hits record. I think that can be kind of weird sometimes, when you see ‘the greatest hits,’ no, no — ‘the greatest greatest hits.’ Releases by a record label that the band had nothing to do with, and there’s several versions of the same thing, over and over again. That’s kind of why we did the DVD and the box set. If you’re going to release a greatest hits, we should also offer something that’s not just the old recordings, rearranged. But on that greatest hits, there’s going to be the studio version of ‘By And Down’, which is the new track that we’ve been working on, that we never quite got around to recording.”

A PERFECT CIRCLE formed in the late ’90s with Keenan and Howerdel making up the core of the band with a number of well-known musicians having recorded and/or toured with the outfit, including James Iha (SMASHING PUMPKINS), Troy Van Leeuwen (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, FAILURE), Paz Lenchantin (ENTRANCE BAND, ZWAN), Jeordie White (MARILYN MANSON), Josh Freese (THE VANDALS, DEVO) and Tim Alexander (PRIMUS).

A PERFECT CIRCLE also recently announced the release of a limited-edition box set titled “A Perfect Circle Live: Featuring Stone And Echo”. The collection, which focuses on the band’s live outings from 2010-2011 includes a full-length DVD of the outfit’s August 2011 Red Rocks concert (with accompanying audio) as well as a 3-CD collection of live releases, one dedicated to each of the three studio albums from the band’s discography. We've been talking about a new Tool record all year. We got excited when a posting on the official website hinted that perhaps the band was almost done recording a new album. Then there were injuries and frontman Maynard Kennan saying "nope, no album in 2013" but we still held out hope, until Danny Cary confirmed no new music until …

Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star, the company which creates “beautiful lullaby versions of your favorite artists,” will release “Lullaby Versions Of A Perfect Circle” on September 17 via Roma Music Group.

With PUSCIFER being pretty active and TOOL still dangling a possible new album, it’s hard to tell when A PERFECT CIRCLE will return to the studio to record new music. Yes, frontman Maynard James Keenan is a busy guy, but for families looking to expose their littlest rockers to the music of A PERFECT CIRCLE, the crew over at Roma Music Group have the answer with the latest release in their growing collection of Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star titles.

“Lullaby Versions Of A Perfect Circle” presents a dozen of the band’s songs, reworked into “lush instrumental” versions perfect for rocking the nursery. Those who pre-order the set now via iTunes will receive “Judith” as an instant download.

“Lullaby Versions Of A Perfect Circle” track listing:

01. The Hollow
02. Judith
03. Blue
04. Imagine
05. 3 Libras
06. The Noose
07. Passive
08. Weak And Powerless
09. Pet
10. The Outsider
11. Orestes
12. Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rhythm Of The War Drums

A full-length version of “Judith” can be streamed below.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star is the premier pop music lullaby line, with more than a hundred titles to choose from across soundtracks, pop, rock, metal, country, alternative and more.

In its mission statement, Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star says, “We feel our lullaby line fills a vacant musical niche. There are other lines of pop music lullabies but we decided to take the approach of being high end musically rather than simply doing these as a novelty. After all, just because the music is for a baby it doesn’t have to sound unsophisticated. We feel we owe it to the artists that we are covering to do their music justice and our standard of quality transcends the lullaby genre. In fact, in addition to soothing babies our fans use our music for yoga, massage and sleep therapy or just general relaxation. We like to call them ‘lullabies for all ages’ and the diversity of use is testament to that.”

THE MAN-EATING TREE — the atmospheric metal band featuring former SENTENCED drummer Vesa Ranta alongside current/former members of POISONBLACK, REFLEXION and EMBRAZE — has issued the following update:

“Our band has been working on a material for the third record for over a year now, with some very promising results.

“A few months ago, we went through all the material we’d already come up with and decided which songs we would continue with and would probably end up on the next THE MAN-EATING TREE record. At the end of August we’re about to enter the studio. We’re excited and certain that once again we’ve found some new elements to enrich our music. In the studio we have also some new things going on, this time we’ll be working with the producer/musician Aksu Hanttu.

“Describing our own music is always difficult, but you could say that our basic sound is getting somewhat heavier and more somber, but you still definitely recognize the old THE MAN-EATING TREE sound. Our new singer, Antti Kumpulainen, brings some new nuances to our sound. With him we’ve done more demo recordings than ever before.”

Says Kumpulainen: “I knew that my longtime friend Janne had this new band and I’d heard both ‘Vine’ and ‘Harvest’ and really liked the atmosphere there was. But what I didn’t know was that THE MAN-EATING TREE were looking for a new singer. So after a brief discussion with the members of the band, it became very clear that I wanted to be a part of THE MAN-EATING TREE.

“I’ve always been into music that has the light and the shade in it, some kind of ‘the beauty and the beast’ mentality.

“For me, music and lyrics together create an atmosphere that’s passionate, cathartic, beautiful, somber. Some sort of emotional passage which eventually will become cathartic.

“I have various musical inspirations, DEFTONES, NINE INCH NAILS, ALICE IN CHAINS, CULT OF LUNA, KATATONIA, PORTISHEAD and A PERFECT CIRCLE, to name some. But my main inspiration comes from the highs and the lows of our everyday lives.”

Adds Ranta: “Like I told you before, for the last year our band has been working hard with the new material. At the same time, our keyboardist Heidi Määttä was studying elsewhere in Finland. After her studies she felt that she’s no longer part of our band and therefore could not continue. There’s no drama, we just grew apart, that’s all. THE MAN-EATING TREE wants to thank Heidi for everything and wishes all the best for her.”

Antti Kumpulainen – Vocals
Janne Markus (ex-POISONBLACK] – Guitar
Antti Karhu (CLOCK PARADOX) – Guitar
Mikko Uusimaa (REFLEXION) – Bass
Vesa Ranta (SENTENCED) – Drums

THE MAN-EATING TREE‘s sophomore album, “Harvest”, was released in November 2011 via Century Media Records. The CD was once again helmed by producer Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, SENTENCED, AMORPHIS) and marked the recording debut of guitarist Antti Karhu.

THE MAN-EATING TREE‘s debut album, “Vine”, came out in Finland on September 22, 2010 via Cobra Records and in other territories through Century Media Records.
