Inner Wound Recordings has announced the signing of the Swedish power metal band PERSUADER. The group’s new album, “The Fiction Maze”, will be released late 2013/early 2014.

PERSUADER was formed in Umeå, Sweden 1997, and has thus far released three albums: “The Hunter” (2000), “Evolution Purgatory” (2004) and “When Eden Burns” (2006).

PERSUADER is:

Jens Carlsson – Vocals
Fredrik Hedström – Bass
Emil Norberg – Guitar
Daniel Sundbom – Guitar
Efraim Juntunen – Drums

Says PERSUADER: “So finally, we’re back! A journey that began some five years ago has finally come to the end of the line and we’re extremely proud to uncover the new PERSUADER album entitled ‘The Fiction Maze’.

“A lot of hard work was put into creating the perfect mix of everything we’ve done so far, expanded on the PERSUADER sound while keeping the core that is the band; heavy riffing, strong melodies, pounding rythms and soaring vocals. Combined with a crushing production courtesy of mixer extraordinaire Ronnie Björnström [AEON, APOSTASY, BONE GNAWER] this turned out to be quite a beast of an album, the true pinnacle of our career so far.

“The time has come. Now join us through the fiction maze!”

The Cory Smoot Experiment was recorded in 2010 at Corys Karma Studios, where GWAR, Municipal Waste, and many others have laid down tracks. The songs were originally meant for a concept album called “Religion is Fiction” featuring several guest musicians, and unfortunately this didn’t happen due to scheduling problems, but that didn’t mean the end of the project. Cory went ahead and recorded the vocals himself and re-named the project The Cory Smoot Experiment, completing the entire package just before his final tour with GWAR in the fall of 2011.

Today GuitarWorld.com is hosting an exclusive premiere of a track from “When Worlds Collide.” Get a first listen to the song “Mutilation” at this location.

After his passing, GWAR and Metal Blade set up the Smoot Family Fund to help provide for Cory’s family. All proceeds from this album will be donated to this fund. Metal Blade Records Chairman and CEO Brian Slagel commented on the album’s release:

“Metal Blade Records is donating all the proceeds of the Cory Smoot solo album to the Smoot family. Please help us by getting the CD and enjoying the immense talent he was.”

Dave Brockie, a.k.a. Odrus Urungus, lead singer of GWAR shared his memories of Cory: “Cory Smoot is one of the great unsung heroes of metal. His musical abilities transformed GWAR from a splatter-thrash phenomena into a top metal act. And though he may have left us way too early, he left us a lifetime of music to listen to. He tore it up like few others, and will always be remembered as the true Flattus Maximus. We really loved the man, and there is not a day that goes by or a GWAR show that is played where he is not sorely missed.”

The “When Worlds Collide” track listing is as follows:

1. The Blood Red
2. Fortunate Son
3. Religion is Fiction
4. Rebirth
5. Brainfade
6. Mandatory Purgatory
7. Countdown to Oblivion
8. The Gauntlet
9. When Worlds Collide
10. Mutilation
11. Hollow Tree
12. Sloth Loves Chunk

Chicago upstarts Jar’d Loose have announced the release of their debut album, “Goes to Purgatory,” due for July 10th on Cassette Deck Media. Check out an exclusive stream of Jar’d Loose’s “Busted,” a track off “Goes to Purgatory,” posted today on Stereokiller. The following press release was also issued about the band:

“From a city of musical innovators, Jar’d Loose present the next chapter in their hometown’s history of heaviness. Jar’d Loose’s sound is all their own — thoroughly rocking yet left-of-center, totally new yet aligned with the spirit of their musical ancestors, from The Jesus Lizard to Entombed.

“At the core is teeth-clenching momentum — brutish, hellbound noise-rock driven by Pete and Eva Bialecki’s chugging freight train riffs and Phil Hardman’s bare bones beats, built for maximum headbanging. Leading the charge is frontman Eddie Gobbo with a voice like no other. Former frontman of The Muzzler, Gobbo holds court with a tormented, raspy punk snarl that’s one of a kind — unhinged and real, spitting lines like ‘I’d give my right eye / The left one stays with me / I’ll take the land of the blind / There I will become king.’

“Atop this foundation, the band takes startling left turns. Riffs transcend all expectations, making detours into unforeseen realms — what starts as a fist-banging dirt rock anthem shape-shists into an ebullient refrain or a haunting death rock dirge. It’s Jar’d Loose’s ability to rock out hellishly then pull the listener into strange new dimensions that makes Goes to Purgatory one of the most exciting debuts to hit the streets this year.

“Goes to Purgatory was recorded and mixed by Pete Grossman (Weekend Nachos, Harm’s Way) at Bricktop Recording in Chicago, and mastered by Carl Saff (Unsane, Red Fang) at Saff Mastering in Chicago.”

The full track listing is as follows:

1. Last Living Roach
2. Rotten Tooth
3. Appendage
4. Busted
5. Hell’s Mothers
6. Right Eye
7. Go Down with You
8. Coming Like a Nightmare

Look for Jar’d Loose on tour throughout 2012.
