On March 13, Metalholic.com conducted an interview with HELLOWEEN singer Andi Deris. You can now listen to the chat below.

Deris has returned with his first solo album since 1999. Not so much a solo effort in its original sense, but recorded in a band environment to achieve a real band feeling, “Million Dollar Haircuts On Ten Cent Heads” was released on November 22, 2013 via earMUSIC.

Written and composed by Andi Deris himself, “Million Dollar Haircuts On Ten Cent Heads” has a crispy, modern sound to it. The diverse, high-class production is snotty, dirty and brutally honest and is described in a press release as “a healthy mixture of HELLOWEEN‘s recent records combined with ‘Master Of The Rings’ tradition (Andi‘s first HELLOWEEN album).”

Recorded together with his band BAD BANKERS, “Million Dollar Haircuts On Ten Cent Heads” sees Deris criticizing the economic system and its corruption. Although the topic may seem a bit dull, the heavy guitar riffs and Deris‘ recognizable voice clearly make a point: “fuck banks, fuck managers, fuck bankers.” He explains: “Obviously we despise everything around banks, managers and bankers who are clearly responsible for the shit that goes on nowadays (and most certainly in our future), so it felt very good to vocally tell them what we think about them. Sure, therefore it’s highly explicit but hey… who gives a fuck? That’s what they deserve… and it helps the music to really kick some ass.”

Ex-PAPA ROACH drummer Dave Buckner rejoined his former bandmates on stage on September 14 at the the Aftershock festival at Discovery Park in Sacramento, California to perform the song “Last Resort”. Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.

PAPA ROACH was sued in 2008 by Buckner, who claimed that he had not been receiving his fair share of the group’s earnings and that he had not received a complete accounting from the group or its management. Frontman Jacoby Shaddix told The Pulse of Radio in early 2009 that the suit was being settled, and that his feelings about Buckner had not been affected by it. “Legal is legal, you know, but it’s like the essence of the lawsuit is to dissolve his business relationship with us, which is completely understandable,” he said. “But as far as like personal goes, I, you know, we wish no ill will on him.”

PAPA ROACH permanently split with Buckner at the beginning of 2008, following a year-long period in which he went to rehab twice. He was replaced by ex-UNWRITTEN LAW drummer Tony Palermo.

A two-and-a-half-minute “blooper reel” filmed during ALTER BRIDGE guitarist Mark Tremonti and singer Myles Kennedy‘s recent European promotional tour for their fourth album, “Fortress”, can be seen below.

“Fortress” will be released on October 8 via EMI Label Services. The CD was helmed by longtime ALTER BRIDGE producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette, known for his work with FALLING IN REVERSE, STORY OF THE YEAR and INCUBUS, to name a few.

Kennedy told The Pulse Of Radio that the band took a different approach to writing and recording this time around. “I think that ‘Fortress’ is probably the most musically adventurous record we’ve made to date,” he said. “There was definitely an awareness when we went into this of what we would not do, which was to touch on approaches that we’d used in the past a number of times. So I think that people will hear that we took some chances on this album.”

Tremonti told Music Radar that the quartet did everything they could to make the new disc as unpredictable as possible, explaining, “The last thing we wanted was verse-chorus, verse-chorus and all that. We messed with time signatures, tones, key changes. Everything we could throw at these songs, we did. They have you never knowing what you’re getting next.”

The first single from the new album is called “Addicted To Pain”.

The arrival of the album will be accompanied by a single U.S. live date, on October 4 in Orlando, Florida, before the band jets off to Europe for a month of shows starting on October 16.

Metallicaaaaaaaaah

It looks like Metallica might be harbouring plans to bring their full Through The Never movie set production on tour!

“Well, that’s the plan, you know,” bassist Rob Trujillo tells The Pulse Of Radio. “I don’t think you build something that incredible and not, you know, share it with the world. Obviously we’re just trying to get through this phase of the journey and gonna release this beast to the world and present it on the IMAX screens, and then after that, you know, we’ll see where the adventure takes us, you know. We do have this stage, we should put it to use.”

Could we see The Toilet On Tour?

Metallica: Through The Never opens internationally next month. Read more about the film, the band’s immediate plans and that long-awaited new album in our immense new issue, out right now (and also featuring free Metallica posters, stickers and a film guide, just because. ABSOLUTLEEEH!).

When METALLICA‘s new movie, “Metallica Through The Never”, opens in 3D IMAX on September 27, fans will see the band performing on a massive stage, specially constructed for the film, that incorporates elements of METALLICA live shows from the past 30 years. The Pulse Of Radio asked bassist Robert Trujillo if there is any chance of taking that stage show on the road. “Well, that’s the plan, you know,” he said.

The band has released a third chapter in its “Hit The Lights: The Making Of Metallica’s Through The Never” series of videos.

The new segment focuses on the conception and construction of the stage and live production.

The movie will expand to theaters around the country on October 4 after its limited IMAX opening on September 27.

The film, a blend of concert movie and fictional narrative, stars Dane DeHaan as a member of METALLICA‘s road crew who is sent on a mysterious mission while the band performs at a sold-out arena and events outside grow more bizarre.

This Saturday (September 21), METALLICA will play a special show at New York’s famed Apollo Theater as part of the promotion for the film.

Midwest Music Scene conducted an interview with singer Jesse Hasek of Knoxville, Tennessee hard rockers 10 YEARS on August 25 at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. You can now watch the chat below.

10 YEARS‘ sixth studio album, “Minus The Machine”, was released on August 7, 2012 via the band’s own label, Palehorse Records. The disc follows up the band’s last effort for a major label, 2010′s “Feeding The Wolves”, and bassist Lewis Cosby told The Pulse Of Radio that becoming independent again gave the band a new jolt of energy. “This time around, it felt like we were an unsigned artist again and we were able to do whatever the hell we wanted to do,” he said. “Complete freedom, complete control — there’s not a track on this record that we’re not just super-proud of. It was such a pleasant experience this time, we really had fun.”

Jesse Hasek said about the album, “We’re proud of this album in its entirety. That speaks volumes to us because we’re our own worst critics. We pick everything apart. An album is your child, it’s your baby, and you know it better than anyone. To sit back and be 100 percent proud of what we’ve accomplished is so gratifying, and we think everything else will fall into place.”
