Vocalist Danny Worsnop of the British metalcore act ASKING ALEXANDRIA recently stopped by the U.K. offices of Metal Hammer magazine to discuss the band’s third album, “From Death To Destiny”. Check out the chat below.

“From Death To Destiny” sold 38,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 6 on The Billboard 200 chart. This achievement not only marks the group’s highest-charting debut ever, but also Sumerian Records‘ highest first-week sales to date.

“From Death To Destiny” debuted at No. 1 on the U.K. rock and metal chart. It’s another first for the band, and it’s particularly special for the band to garner so much support throughout their home country.

Commented ASKING ALEXANDRIA guitarist Ben Bruce: “It’s taken long enough! It wasn’t because we were being lazy, but because we wanted it to be perfect. ‘From Death To Destiny’ is our third album and we wanted to make sure we’d bring out the best possible record we could.”

He continued: “This is our biggest sounding record and alongside the classic ASKING ALEXANDRIA stuff — the breakdown sections, heavy sections, fast sections — we’ve thrown a lot of new influences in there. It’s a very diverse album and I think people who pigeonholed us are going to realize they were wrong when they hear it.”

Issued on August 6 via Sumerian Records, “From Death To Destiny” was recorded with renowned producer Joey Sturgis (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, EMMURE).

“From Death To Destiny” track listing:

01. Don’t Pray For Me
02. Killing You
03. The Death Of Me
04. Run Free
05. Break Down The Walls
06. Poison
07. Believe
08. Creature
09. White Line Fever
10. Moving On
11. The Road
12. Until The End (ft. Howard Jones)
13. The Death Of Me (Rock Mix)

Most of the new CD was tracked at Sturgis‘ studio in Indiana, while the vocals and strings and choir parts were laid down at NRG Recording Studios in North Hollywood, California.

MADBALL‘s latest EP, “Rebellion”, was released digitally last year via The BNB Label, a brand extension of Cricien‘s Black N Blue Productions group. The six-song effort contains four new tracks and newly recorded versions of two cuts from the band’s legendary 1989 seven-inch single, “Ball Of Destruction”. The CD was recorded at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersberg, Florida with producer Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, CANNIBAL CORPSE, MORBID ANGEL).

“Rebellion” marked the first MADBALL recording with former UNEARTH and THE RED CHORD member Mike Justian, who has served as MADBALL‘s touring drummer for the past couple of years.

New Jersey thrash metal veterans OVERKILL will enter the studio on Monday, September 2 to begin recording their next album for a March 2014 release. The CD will be tracked at Gear Recording and mixed by Greg Reely, who also worked on “The Electric Age”.

In a recent interview with Radiosuicide Photography‘s RSPTV, OVERKILL vocalist Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth stated about the band’s plans for the coming months: “There’s six songs done [for the next record so far]. What we’re gonna do in the interim is we’re gonna come over while recording and do European festivals. After that, we do a U.S. tour with the German band called KREATOR. It’s gonna be a flip-flop headline; we’ll close the shows on the East Coast in those theaters and they’ll close on the West Coast in theaters, or big clubs. After that, we drop the record in March, it hits the street. They even gave me the date as March 7 already, so we’re that far planned ahead for those type of activities. And after that, I’m sure that what we’re gonna do is just start rolling these tours again. And I think that as we’ve gotten older, one of the things that we like is that we actually do more tours, but we do less touring; we’re not away from home for three months or sixty days, we’re away from home for three or four weeks. Three weeks is a great tour for a guy my age. Because then you don’t have to recover for a month when you come home. [laughs]”

As previously reported, OVERKILL released a very special limited tour edition of its latest album, “The Electric Age”, in Europe on April 19 via Nuclear Blast Records. The limited 2CD tour edition includes the regular album as well as a four additional live tracks on a bonus CD, recorded at The Metro in Sidney, Australia on September 25, 2010.

“The Electric Age” sold 6,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 77 on The Billboard 200 chart.

“The Electric Age” was recorded and mixed at Gear Recording Studios in New Jersey, owned and operated by OVERKILL bassist D.D. Verni.

To honor and celebrate Record Store Day on April 20, Nuclear Blast and OVERKILL released a limited-edition 10-inch copper-colored vinyl in gatefold containing four live tracks recorded at The Metro in Sidney, Australia on September 25, 2010.

OVERKILL was forced to drop off the “Dark Roots Of Thrash” tour with TESTAMENT in February due to Ellsworth‘s bout with pneumonia.
