AVENGED SEVENFOLD took part in a question-and-answer session earlier today (Tuesday, August 27). The session, which was hosted by Nicole Alvarez of the Los Angeles radio station KROQ, took place at the Warner Bros. Records Patio in Burbank, California and is now available for viewing below.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD recently notched the fifth No. 1 single of the band’s career with “Hail To The King”, the title track of its newly released album. What sets AVENGED SEVENFOLD apart from a number of other current rock acts is that they have not used outside songwriters to help them write songs for the radio. In fact, singer M. Shadows told The Pulse Of Radio it never occurred to them. “I didn’t even know many rock bands used other writers,” he said. “I knew they did in the past — I knew Alice Cooper used to and, you know, AEROSMITH would use other writers. Coming from Warped Tour and the punk rock background that we came from, it never even crossed our mind. To us, it’s like, we try to create our art, and if we don’t have that creative outlet and it’s not working, I’d rather just wait it out until something that we want to say and we want to put down comes. But bringing in another writer never, ever crossed our mind.”

“Hail To The King”, the band’s sixth studio album, arrived on August 27.

The CD is AVENGED SEVENFOLD‘s follow-up to 2010’s chart-topping “Nightmare”.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD will begin a fall headlining North American tour on October 3 in Chicago, concluding on October 26 in Las Vegas. Support on the road trip will come from DEFTONES and GHOST.

Accoding to The Pulse Of Radio, AVENGED SEVENFOLD recently notched the fifth No. 1 single of the band’s career this week with “Hail To The King”, the title track of its upcoming album. Hatesphere, which will be entering the recording studio in June, has now announced the band’s new bass player is Jimmy Nedergaard (Gob Squad). The band is currently working on a seventh album scheduled to be released through Napalm Records in September.

Jimmy Nedergaard commented on joining the band, “I’ve been a fan of HateSphere for a long time, so of course I had to audition. Both their music and the energy they put in their work appeals to me, and our future plans for HateSphere are the same, so it seems obvious to me, to work and play with these guys.”

The band also added, “Finding a new bass player showed not to be as easy, as we had hoped but our patience luckily paid off. Being a metal head but coming from a punk rock background, Jimmy fits our profile perfectly. He knows what he is going into, he shares our visions with the band, he has tried something different than metal but still has it deep in his heart, and last but not least he’s a great guy. Fitting in personally means a lot to us, so Jimmy’s age and experience has made him the perfect choice. We have already played our first live show with him, partied with him and involved him in the writing process of the new songs, so he has had a busy start – just as we want it.”

In other news, Hatesphere will be on the upcoming Danish Headbanger’s Ball Tour alongside Mercenary.

Ionio_Group

Not all metal lovers are the same. Some can listen to the same bands over and over, and enjoy the same sound to no end. Some might require a “Cooldown Sound” of sorts when the moods catches them.  A friend of mine put it best by referring to those bands as his “Guilty Pleasures” of a kind. Ionia might very well be one of those bands that listeners could turn to if they needed such a break.

Ionia is a dynamic 5-piece melodic rock band from New York, and has been preparing to release their debut full length “Moral Hazard” on May 4, 2010. They show a progressive rock feel, with a slight punk rock background shift in a lot of their tracks. I wouldn’t call their sound innovative by any means, but they have a potential to find themselves into someone’s collection as that “Guilty Pleasure” of a sort.
