Germany’s EMP Rock Invasion recently conducted an interview with KORN singer Jonathan Davis and guitarist Brian “Head” Welch. You can now watch the chat below.

KORN recently released an official music video for “Never Never”, the first single from the band’s upcoming 11th studio album, “The Paradigm Shift”. Like the album itself, the clip is the first to feature original KORN guitarist Brian “Head” Welch in more than eight years. Welch rejoined the group permanently earlier this year after leaving in 2005. The video may be saying something about the passage of time as the members of the group play the song while avoiding the lethal arms of a giant clock.

The melodic, almost pop-driven style of “Never Never” has met with some mixed reactions from KORN fans, which Davis told Metal Hammer was his intention. He explained, “We put this out first cause I knew it was going to piss off a lot of people. And um, so I did it. That song ain’t for dudes, it’s for the ladies.”

Guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer told The Pulse Of Radio that the new disc is another big step forward for the band musically. “The melodies on it, on the tracks we did, they just sound like, so much like a mature band,” he said. “Sounds like they’re well thought out, the themes of, you know, the songs that Jonathan wrote about — it’s just where we are now. Every record’s just sort of a snapshot of where you are musically, personally . . . financially. [laughs].”

KORN will release “The Paradigm Shift” on October 8. A deluxe edition will feature two bonus tracks and a documentary DVD called “Reconciliation”.

The band will kick off a headlining North American tour on September 26 in Philadelphia, concluding in Las Vegas on October 12.

Besides this main feature, the first-ever SABATON live offering also features even more live footage of the band’s performances in Gothenburg, London and Oberhausen on their extensive “Swedish Empire Tour”.

“Swedish Empire Live” will be made available in the following formats:

* 2Blu-ray digi
* 2DVD digi
* DVD (Poland only)
* CD digi

* 2LP (limited yellow vinyl in gatefold + poster) (Nuclear Blast mailorder only)

* Special Leather Hardcover Earbook (Nuclear Blast mailorder only) (2Blu-ray + 2DVD + CD + exclusive bonus CD, 48-page earbook)

SABATON‘s latest album, “Carolus Rex”, was recently certified gold in Poland for sales in excess of 10,000 copies. The band was presented with gold plaques during their signing session in Warsaw. The CD was also certified gold in Sweden for sales in excess of 20,000 copies. (Note: The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry [IFPI] in Sweden has revised the sales requirements for albums to reach gold status in the country twice in the last 11 years — from the pre-2002 level of 40,000 to the current 20,000.)

“Carolus Rex” was released on May 22, 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records. The lyrics for the CD, which was made available in both English and Swedish, deal with the Swedish Empire (referring to the Kingdom of Sweden between 1561 and 1721).

SABATON last year parted ways with guitarists Oskar Montelius and Rikard Sundén, drummer Daniel Mulback and keyboardist Daniel Mÿhr.

Germany’s EMP Rock Invasion recently conducted an interview with vocalist Dez Fafara of Californian metallers DEVILDRIVER. You can now watch the chat below.

DEVILDRIVER‘s new album, “Winter Kills”, was released on August 27 via Napalm Records. The instrumental parts for the CD were recorded at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida while the vocals were laid down at Fafara‘s home studio, with Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WHITECHAPEL, ALL THAT REMAINS) handling production duties. The album’s cover artwork features a photograph by Dean Karr. The layout was done by Ryan Clark of Invisible Creature.

“Winter Kills” was made available in four configurations, including a deluxe digibook with CD (including two bonus tracks, “Shudder” and “Back Down To The Grave”) and live DVD (featuring 45 minutes of live raw DEVILDRIVER power — no studio overdubs at all, just the band at their best — and including fan favorites “Clouds Over California” and “The Wretched”), standard CD version, digital version and, for the first time in DEVILDRIVER history, a 2LP gatefold edition.

DEVILDRIVER previously worked with Lewis on 2011’s “Beast” and 2007’s “The Last Kind Words”.

Commented Fafara: “This is by far DEVILDRIVER‘s most cohesive, powerful, groove-laden record to date! We delivered our signature California groove sound alongside a raw and biting guitar tone, mixed it with massive hooks, added in thunderous drums to rethink and reshape another different sounding unique piece of rock and roll!

DEVILDRIVER has always and will forever be about thinking outside the box and delivering on something different from record to record. We cannot be assimilated into any scene or even genre of metal, and we will continue to do things our own way with a massive middle finger in the air to the status quo!”

AMARANTHE‘s first U.S. headline tour kicked off on July 17 at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City. Support on the trek came from KOBRA AND THE LOTUS.

“The Nexus” was released on March 26 (one day earlier internationally) via Spinefarm. The cover artwork was created by Gustavo Sazes. The album was once again recorded at Hansen studios in Ribe, Denmark with producer Jacob Hansen.

AMARANTHE‘s self-titled debut album was released in Europe in April 2011 via Spinefarm Records.

BFMV

Bullet For My Valentine have hinted that they’ll be going bigger and heavier on the follow-up to this year’s Temper Temper.

“Basically, we’re gonna go a lot heavier next time,” frontman Matt Tuck tells EMP Rock Invasion. “We just think we’ve kind of done what we wanted to do with [producer] Don [Gilmore]. We just don’t wanna do the same thing again. So now we kind of went from heavy to kind of thrashy to kind of hard rock records.

“And now we wanna kind of bring a bit more of a thrash metal element back into the sound, really. We wanna kind of go Master Of Puppets-y. Instead of cutting the songs down and making them simple, we wanna make them really complicated next time.”

Check out the interview below:

BFMV play the following dates this winter with Asking Alexandria and Young Guns:
