Razor & Tie has announced the signing of the New York-based band THE PRETTY RECKLESS. The group is currently working on its forthcoming studio album, which is due out in 2014. Universal will release the new record in Canada anda release partner for the rest of the world will be announced soon.

THE PRETTY RECKLESS recently premiered a new track called “Going To Hell”, which is now available for sale in United States and Canada at the iTunes Store.

On September 20, THE PRETTY RECKLESS kicked off a major headline tour which will extend into mid-November. The “Going To Hell” tour will hit cities in both U.S. and Canada.

ASKING ALEXANDRIA‘s third album, “From Death To Destiny”, sold 38,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 6 on The Billboard 200 chart.

In a recent interview with Kill Your Stereo, ASKING ALEXANDRIA guitarist Ben Bruce stated about the band’s musical progression on “From Death To Destiny”: “When we recorded ‘Stand Up And Scream’, we were kids — we were 17 to 19 years old. We all loved ’80s music then. [However] I don’t think we were brave enough or competent enough to show our passion for ’80s rock back then at the time. With ‘Reckless And Relentless’, it was the same thing; there was a little bit more of it and you could see our ’80s rock ‘n’ roll love coming through, but again, I don’t think we had the balls to go out and fully do it. But this time around, we sat down and intentionally said, ‘OK, we want to show our love of ’80s music in this record.’ But we don’t want it to sound like a regurgitated ’80s album because we’ve been there, we’ve done that. It wouldn’t be fun, it wouldn’t be fresh and it wouldn’t work, so we had the challenge to try and incorporate modern day rock and metal into our love and passion for the ’80s. I think we did a really did a good job of it.”

Asked how important social lmedia is in promoting a band like ASKING ALEXANDRIA, Bruce said: “I think it’s a vital part of promoting a band. There are so many different bands out there. It’s not like back in the day where you were put in a magazine and everyone would subscribe to that magazine. You knew lots of people were going to read about you in a magazine. These days, magazines still sell but they’ve taken a huge hit, just as record sales have. The biggest platform anyone has these days to release any information regarding whatever it may be, for instance, our new album, is the Internet. The harder you work at that and try and connect with your fans, the more they feel a connection with their favorite band and therefore the more interested they become. It grows. We have 3.5 million followers on our Facebook page, which is a shit-ton of people. [laughs] You can’t even imagine 3.5 million people. Although it’s just a number on a screen, essentially you are writing a letter to each one of these people to tell them about our album coming out or we’ll be playing this city on this day, so I think it’s absolutely vital these days to make the most of your social networking.”

“Gift Of Desperation”, the latest single from U.K. songwriter/producer Johnny Wore Black, is a collaboration with MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson. Taken from Johnny Wore Black‘s debut album, “Walking Underwater”, which will be released early next year, “Gift Of Desperation” is a thought-provoking dark melodic song where the words and music explore some of the harsh realities of finding a way out of the darkness.

“Gift Of Desperation” will be released to accompany Ellefson‘s biography, “My Life With Deth” (Howard Books/Simon & Schuster, October 29, 2013) which tells of his unflinching story of rock ‘n’ roll excess in one of the world’s best-known bands. It’s an eye-opening account that pulls no punches of his journey from thrash metal legend to Lutheran minister. MEGADETH‘s history reads like a how-to manual of excess of all kinds. If you’re looking for revelations, they’re here, including the drug habits which brought the bandmembers to their knees.

“Gift Of Desperation” sees the continued participation between Johnny Wore Black and Ellefson after the two worked together on previous tracks “All The Rage” and “Up In Flames”. “Gift Of Desperation” is also accompanied by a video which David came to London to shoot. The song was mixed by Grammy Award-winning producer David Bottrill (TOOL, STONE SOUR).

According to The Pulse Of Radio, DEF LEPPARD‘s recent Las Vegas extravaganza will hit the silver screen for two nights in October. NCM Fathom Events together with AEG Live and Network Live are bringing DEF LEPPARD “Viva! Hysteria” concert to over 250 theaters across the country with a full front-to-back performance of 1987′s multi-platinum “Hysteria” album — along with a healthy dose of the band’s greatest hits. Tickets for the screenings are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com.

Elliott shed some light DEF LEPPARD‘s recent Vegas residency at the 4,000-capacity Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, explaining, “We’ve been asked for many years if we’d ever play an album in its entirety, and the answer was always no because we’d be out promoting a new album. Then in March and April 2013 when we had no new music to promote, we had a chance to revisit arguably our most important album. It was an easy decision to make.”

He went on to say that the stigma involved in rock musicians playing “Sin City” has long passed: “As for Vegas, it’s no longer perceived as the place crooners go to die! Artists like MÖTLEY CRÜE, ELTON JOHN, GUNS N’ ROSES and CHEAP TRICK have recently done residencies and rock n’ roll has definitely moved in! So, there was no better place for us to take the show. It was a fantastic experience for us and for our fans.”

Joe Elliott told The Pulse Of Radio that the band’s humble beginnings back in England never even hinted at where they’d be today. “35 years after starting out in a little school in Sheffield, and then the next thing we’re doing a residency in Vegas,” he said. “It was never on the agenda back then, y’know? But being in a band more than seven or eight years wasn’t either. So, at this moment in time you’re just kinda making things up as you go along, because, things just keep appearing for us. Like; ‘Hey — you guys fancy doing this?’ ‘Well, that’s something we’ve never done.’ And as soon as we can say that out loud, it’s appealing for us to do it, ”cause it gets you off the treadmill.”

The theatrical showings will be followed by a companion DVD, Blu-ray and live album that Elliott tells Billboard.com will chronicle “the whole shebang” — not only the “Hysteria” set but all of the other songs DEF LEPPARD played over the two nights the show was filmed.

“VIVA! Hysteria – Live at the Joint, Las Vegas” will be made available on CD, Blu-ray disc, DVD Video, and digital download in October at your favorite music retailer.

FMQB recently conducted an interview with FOZZY singer and WWE wrestling superstar Chris Jericho. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

FMQB: You’re about to kick off your next North American tour with old school British Metal group SAXON. Why did you choose to tour with them, instead of a newer band?

Jericho: SAXON is a legendary, influential band; huge all around the world; sold millions of records all around the world; and this is their first extensive U.S. tour in years. When the opportunity came up for us to go out with them, I thought it was a great mix because the most important thing when you tour with other bands is that you want to gain new fans. I’ve got a lot of respect for SAXON, I’m a big fan of theirs, but most importantly their new album, “Sacrifice”, is one of the best records they’ve done ever. They’re not phoning it in. They’re still putting out great material and they’re still a vibrant, living, breathing rock n roll band. It’s a really cool mix, because there’s going to be a lot of SAXON fans that don’t know FOZZY and a lot of FOZZY fans that don’t know SAXON. We all come from the same place, we both have very heavy but melodic music, and at the end of the night, I think we’re both going to have new fans gained. People that are there that don’t know one of the bands are going to leave as fans of both and that’s the most important thing, so it’s a great mix. Our last U.S. tour, we went out with SHINEDOWN and GODSMACK, and now we’re going out with SAXON, so you get a real diverse, cross section of fans that are seeing us and that’s the way to build our band.

FMQB: One thing that’s really impressive about FOZZY is the lengths you go to with your fans. How do the VIP meet-and-greets work before your shows?

Jericho: We’re very fan-friendly, from everything that we do on social media to the shows themselves. We demand a lot of audience participation from our fans, and we get it. That’s one of the reasons we have such a great reputation as a live band. We started a VIP program a few years ago. I was looking at other bands doing VIPs, but I thought that bands were charging a lot of money and not really delivering a lot. So we came up with a whole VIP meet-and-greet system that’s a little bit different from the norm. We let fans watch the soundcheck. If we’re headlining, we have dinner with the fans, if not, we make sure to spend time with them and take them on the bus, and get to know people a little bit. It’s not just a run-and-gun, and I think we’ve created a whole new society of FOZZY fans that met each other just from our VIP program. People have gotten married from meeting each other as FOZZY VIPs. It’s a cool, underground society that we have cultivated. Especially in Europe, because we’ve toured there so much, and we’re really excited about doing that on this tour as well.

FMQB: What’s next for FOZZY beyond this fall tour?

Jericho: We have this tour with SAXON coming up, then I think we’re going to Australia before the year’s end. We’ve already started writing the new record. We plan to have all the songwriting done by the end of December, and start recording it in January, February and March, and then have it out and ready to for next summer. So that’s the plan and we’re excited, because there’s a lot of great momentum with FOZZY. We’ve done a lot of touring on “Sin And Bones”, I think we’re up to 100 gigs already, and when you get to three digits on one record, that’s success. So we want to keep that going and keep it rolling.

TRANSPORT LEAGUE‘s latest album, “Boogie From Hell”, was released digitally on May 20 via frontman Tony Jelencovich‘s (DEATHDESTRUCTION, B-THONG, MASSIVE AUDIO NERVE, MNEMIC, ICON IN ME) Hoffa Entertainment. A physical CD was also printed for release through the Bengans record store.

“Boogie From Hell” was tracked over a 17-month period and was mixed by Svein Jensen at Grand Recordings in Gothenburg, Sweden. The CD’s sound is described in a press release as “groovy, shaky-boogie-rock ‘n’ roll metal … for the fans of CLUTCH, CATHEDRAL, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, MUSTASCH and even VOLBEAT.”

TRANSPORT LEAGUE will embark on a short tour of Sweden and The Netherlands at the end of the month. Guitarist Peter Hunyadi will be forced to sit out most of these shows due to “serious health problems, but will soon be on his feet again.” Filling in for him on the road will be Dan Johansson (GENEROUS MARIA, MARY BEATS JANE).

The band states: “We are really looking forward to play some shows again, and we are very happy that the album has been getting raging reviews all over, from both media and fans.”

In a recent interview with Mosh Pit Report, PAPA ROACH drummer Tony Palermo stated about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band’s follow-up to last year’s “The Connection”: “We’re working on ideas. We always lay stuff down in the back of the bus just to keep it flowing. I’ll come up with beats, I always do a lot of voice memo stuff just to get it down quick if I have an idea that pops into my head and I don’t wanna forget it. I just do a 10- or 15-second voice memo in my iPhone. It’s usually me breathing heavy into the phone in a beat style then I’ll come in [to the recording setup on the tour bus] and lay it down on this little keyboard here. It doubles as a drum set, which is weird, but it works. We put stuff together on the computer, and once we get into the actual studio in writing mode, then we go through all the stuff and decide what’s good and what sucks, or isn’t PAPA ROACH. It’s cool. There’s a lot of down time on tour, so it’s a good tool to keep it flowing so you’re not like stuck writing 15 to 20 songs for a record in 30 days. It’s really hard to do that.”

Palermo also spoke about a number of PAPA ROACH shows being canceled due to singer Jacoby Shaddix‘s vocal issues. “I don’t know if it’s worse for [the fans] or for us,” he said. “We pride ourselves on playing rock ‘n’ roll music live to people, and when something unfortunate like that happens, I know people who travel, like plane tickets, hotels, but you know, we’re also losing money. It’s not really about the money, though, it’s just, for us, you gotta take care of that and get it better so you have a career. Like last year, when we had to pull off of Uproar, it was so bad. We played three shows and then he just couldn’t sing anymore; he had to go in and get his voice operated on. It was that serious and that drastic. We just went through it again a little bit, but he didn’t have to get an operation, he just had to go on a little more strict vocal rest and got paired up with a new vocal coach that showed him different techniques than he’d been using.”

PAPA ROACH‘s latest album, “The Connection”, was re-released in Europe as a special tour edition on May 6 via Eleven Seven Music. The effort contains a bonus DVD of a concert at Club Nokia in Los Angeles featuring performances of new songs as well as the band’s biggest hits, including “Still Swingin’”, “Give Me Back My Life”, “Before I Die”, “Last Resort” and “Between Angels & Insects”.

“The Connection” was produced by rock veteran James Michael (SIXX: A.M., HALESTORM) and John Feldmann (PANIC AT THE DISCO, THE USED, BLACK VEIL BRIDES). The CD sold 22,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at No. 17 on the Billboard album chart.
