On September 27, RockNLive.org conducted an interview with ’80s hard rock queen Lita Ford. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below.

Lita Ford will release a new live album, “The Bitch Is Back…Live”, on November 5 in North America, on October 25 in Germany and on October 28 in the rest of Europe through SPV/Steamhammer. The disc features a recording of Lita‘s October 2012 performance at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California.

The album will be released as a digipak with a special booklet including fan photos and download.

Where does the title come from? Lita opens the show with her rendition of the classic Elton John track “The Bitch is Back”, which was previously released as a bonus track on “Living Like A Runaway”.

“Well, I heard [the original version of the song] on the radio and I just thought it worked for Elton John, and it works for Lita Ford,” Lita explained to Metal-Rules.com when asked how she came to cover the track. “It kind of makes a statement, saying, ‘She’s back,’ and this is me saying this, not anybody else, you know?! It came from me, and I spoke to Elton John backstage before we released the album and I wanted his blessing. I didn’t want to just take his song and do it because I’ve done my own version of it. It’s more guitar-orientated instead of piano. So I said to him we’re doing ‘The Bitch Is Back’ and we gave him a copy of it, and his tour manager wrote back and said, ‘It’s one rocking version.’ But I went backstage because he came through town and I went backstage and said, ‘Hello!’ and he said, ‘That’s my song,’ you know, ‘That’s my song,’ and I said, ‘Yes, it is your song,’ and I said, ‘Thank you for letting me do it,’ and he said, ‘Thank you for doing my song.’ So I thought, ‘Right on, I got his blessing.'”

JohngysBeat.com has uploaded video footage of ’80s hard rock queen Lita Ford performing an impromptu version of her hit song “Close My Eyes Forever” with a fan during the most recent Days Of The Dead horror convention, which was held in early July in Indianapolis, Indiana. Check out the clip below.

Lita last year revealed that “Close My Eyes Forever” came about by accident during a night of drinking and getting stoned when she was being managed by Ozzy Osbourne‘s wife, Sharon. She recalled to Metal Underground: “‘Close My Eyes Forever’ was a mistake. It was just me and Ozzy and Sharon hanging about in the recording studio. They showed up one day and had a housewarming present for me: a life-size duplicate of Koko, the gorilla from the San Diego Zoo. It was freaking huge — I had to strap it in the front seat of my jeep to get it home. Ozzy stayed, Sharon got bored and left, and me and Ozzy had a couple of drinks and we were jamming. We started singing, messing about and we wrote ‘Close My Eyes Forever’. Next thing I knew the sun was coming up. I looked at him and went, ‘Uh-oh, we’re in trouble.’ Sharon had been waiting all night. We were a long way from where Ozzy had to go. He said, ‘Can you drive me home?’ I said, ‘No, I can’t.’ We were stoned out of our minds. He got into a cab and I strapped Koko into my jeep and drove home — just barely made it. And then we had this hit song.”

Lita Ford has set “The Bitch Is Back… Live” as the title of her new live album, due on October 28 via SPV/Steamhammer.

Lita‘s latest solo album, “Living Like A Runaway”, was released on June 19, 2012 in North America via SPV/Steamhammer. The effort was made available in four configurations: a double LP, limited-edition CD, standard CD and digital download. The artwork for the album was created by famed rock photographer Mark Weiss.

’80s hard rock queen Lita Ford has recorded a new Christmas single with her former THE RUNAWAYS bandmate Cherie Currie.

Speaking to Mike of PsychoBabbleTV.com at a recent tour stop in Chicago (see video below), Lita explained how the collaboration came about. “My old drummer called me, Rodger Carter, and he says: ‘Lita, let’s record a Christmas song,'” she began. “He’s got his own studio; it’s called the Doghouse. It’s in Encino, California… Reseda. And it’s a really nice studio. He said, ‘Come over and let’s record a Christmas single.’ So I thought, ‘OK. What do you wanna do? ‘Jingle Bells’?’ And he said, ‘No. Let’s write something new.’ And I thought, ‘OK.’ So I got out a pen and paper, and I thought, ‘Let’s rock this Christmas down.’ So we started writing this song called ‘Rock This Christmas Down’. And this year, I got in touch with Cherie Currie, who I haven’t spoke to in quite a long, long time, who was the lead singer for THE RUNAWAYS. And so it just so happened to be that she was on the phone just shortly after we had finished talking about recording this song. I said, ‘Cherie, why don’t you sing it with me?’ So she flew in from this area, which she just played, and came straight from the airport to the studio, cut the vocal track, and we have a Christmas single with me and Cherie singing lead vocals.”

THE RUNAWAYS, which broke up in 1979, on May 25 in Sydney, Australia can be seen below.

In 2010, the movie “The Runaways” was released starring Kristen Stewart of “Twilight” fame as singer Joan Jett. The band formed in 1975, with Ford on lead guitar. She was 16 at the time.

“The Runaways” was directed by Floria Sigismondi, who is best known for directing music videos by such artists as David Bowie, Marilyn Manson and Sheryl Crow.

In a 2012 interview with Metalshrine, Lita stated about the possibility of a RUNAWAYS reunion: “Cherie‘s all ready to do a RUNAWAYS reunion and I would love it and I think we should start writing songs and I think it would be great. I’m not sure what Joan [Jett] is doing right now. I don’t know if she’s in the studio or if she’s touring, I’m not sure. I was in contact with her for a while and then all of a sudden she just disappeared. She’s probably on tour, but I don’t know and it really needs to come from Joan. I talk to Cherie all the time. I talk to Vicki [Blue; now known as Victory Tischler-Blue] all the time and I’m still good friends with Jackie [Fox], but we can’t do it without Joan, you know. She’s got to be a part of it and she’s gotta want to be a part of it.”

She added in a separate interview in December 2012: “I can’t get a yes or no out of Joan, so I’ve kind of thrown in the towel. It’s now or never. I would love it, but for some reason — I don’t know why — it’s Joan‘s camp [that’s holding it up]. The ball is in her camp. It’s up to them.”

Lita last year filmed a video for the song “Mother” in Joshua Tree, California. Directing the clip was Ford‘s former THE RUNAWAYS bandmate Victory Tischler-Blue, whose film “Edgeplay” was based on her tenure in the 1970s all-girl teenage rock act.

Lita Ford will release a new live album, “The Bitch Is Back… Live”, on October 28 via SPV/Steamhammer.
