On February 25, Norwegian/American hard rockers TNT performed at the studios of Norway’s public television network NRK as a part of a series showcasing Norwegian musicians. Check out footage of the performance at NRK.no.

TNT played its first official reunion show with singer Tony Harnell on January 17 at Gregers Live in Hamar, Norway.

Harnell confirmed his reunion with TNT in October 2013, explaining in a statement: “After much discussion and lots of soul searching, I’m happy to officially announce that I’ll be back behind the microphone with TNT.

“I’m very proud of all we accomplished over the years and proud to have written and recorded all those great songs with my brother from another mother, Ronni Le Tekrø.

“Sometimes it’s just time to give the fans what they’re asking for.

“2014 is the 25th anniversary of the successful ‘Intuition’ album and we thought it would be a good time to get out and relaunch this little machine for you guys!

“Can’t wait to see you all on tour!”

In August 2013, TNT parted ways with its frontman of the past seven years, British vocalist Tony Mills (ex-SHY). He explained in a statement: “Maybe we did 500 shows or something like that, but not many out of Norway.

“It has been the most prolific live period in my career, and when I felt the stagnancy and the lack of desire to grow and develop any further, I knew my time was done with the band.

“I don’t think it’s sensible to expect new art from the band after thirty years, just a lot of re-living the past and reconstructions of old albums and performances.

“None of us are getting any younger, but I have a great desire to not stop creativity in my life. I hate wasting days and singing songs from the past to satisfy old fans.

“Nostalgia wasn’t doing it for me.

“We were never close as friends or anything like that, so there is no great loss, and I have no doubt they will reform the original lineup and just do the whole thing all over again. I wish them good luck on that. I have other releases to come that excite me much more than that.”

Harnell rejoined TNT on stage for their 30th-anniversary concert on June 2, 2012 at the Clarion Hotel in Trondheim, Norway. The group performed a special setlist while accompanied by the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra (Trondheim Symfoniorkester). Also making a special appearance with the band was TNT‘s original singer, Dag Ingebrigtsen.

After leaving TNT in 2006, Harnell was replaced by Mills, who has since appeared on three studio albums from the band: 2007′s “The New Territory”, 2008′s“Atlantis” and 2010′s “A Farewell To Arms”.

Harnell‘s final release as a member of TNT was the “Live in Madrid” DVD, which came out in September 2006 via MTM Music. The set, which was filmed on April 1, 2006 in Madrid, Spain, was accompanied by an 82-minute audio CD plus booklet liner notes from Harnell about his work with the group as well as an additional tour documentary by Darren Paltrowitz.

Singer Cristina Scabbia of Italian heavy rockers LACUNA COIL recently spoke to the Chicago Tribune about the band’s participation in this year’s “Hottest Chicks In Hard Rock” tour alongside SICK PUPPIES, EYES SET TO KILL and CILVER.

“This thing about the hottest chick, it’s been following me around since 2007,” she said. “That’s when I was on the cover of Revolver [magazine] for the first time.

“In one way, it’s frustrating, because I’m still a singer, I’m not a model … but I can’t deny it’s flattering. It’s not a bad thing that they consider you a good-looking woman. … A lot of people stay there all the time, but when they hear me singing, the problem goes away.”

She added: “I don’t really look at myself as a hot chick at all. I really feel like a tomboy. I have a lot of doubts about what the word ‘hot’ means. It’s so much more behind the look that’s attractive to me. Just looking at a picture of someone hot, what does that mean? That they look hot naked? That I would have sex with this person? It’s a question mark. …

“(In photo shoots) they never showed my boobs. I never went out half naked. That means I can communicate hotness in a different way, and that makes me proud.

Asked what it’s like being the only female on a tour bus, Cristina said: “I’m a little bit of a tomboy. I’m constantly with the guys in a tour bus, 24 hours a day for months.

“I never saw myself as a girlie girl; that might be the key…

“The only privacy you have is in your bunk.

“It’s a tough one. You just need to have it in your blood as a lifestyle. It’s much more than, ‘Ooh, you’re going out to play for a lot of people. Must be cool.’ There’s a lot of sacrifice, especially since we’re not making millions. We’re struggling, too.”

LACUNA COIL‘s new studio album, “Broken Crown Halo”, will be released in North America on April 1 (one day earlier internationally) via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded Italy by producer Jay Baumgardner (P.O.D., SEVENDUST, EVANESCENCE, PAPA ROACH) and engineer Kyle Hoffmann (P.O.D., BUSH, ZEBRAHEAD). The effort was mastered by Howie Weinberg, whose credits include RAMMSTEIN, SOUNDGARDEN, NIRVANA, DEFTONES and SHERYL CROW.

“Broken Crown Halo” is LACUNA COIL‘s seventh studio effort, and the highly-anticipated follow-up to “Dark Adrenaline”, which was released in January 2012 and saw the band tour with acts including MEGADETH, MOTÖRHEAD, VOLBEAT and SEVENDUST after debuting at No. 15 on The Billboard 200 album chart.

California rockers TESLA last month entered the studio to record eight or nine new songs, to be included on the band’s forthcoming album.

Says TESLA guitarist Frank Hannon: “I must say that this new TESLA album is really gonna be awesome.

“We went in more prepared with the songs and ideas way more than ‘Forevermore’, and the style is pure TESLA back to our roots.

“The band is working and producing it as we did ‘Into The Now’… with help from the legendary Tom Zutaut, who helped us make our best albums.

“The title of the new album is gonna be ‘Simplicity’ and I truly believe you guys are gonna love it!”

He added: “The opening track is called ‘MP3′ and starts off with an opus intro that orchestrates into a heavy slow groove with lyrics about technology and how we miss simplicity, vinyl albums, family values… and has a heavy-ass riff! Then we segue into a rock and roll song called ‘Ricochet’ that talks about Uncle Ted

“Can’t wait to play this stuff live!”

A new TESLA song, “Taste My Pain”, was released last summer via iTunes and Amazon. The track was recorded during a two-day (June 5-6, 2013) session at J Street Recorders in Sacramento, with plans to include it on the upcoming CD. According to the group, “It’s a heavier song with a hard-driving beat and TESLA trademark blazing guitars.”

TESLA‘s latest album, “Twisted Wires And The Acoustic Sessions”, was released in July 2011 via Scarlet Records. The CD featured six songs that were recorded back in 2005 at bassist Brian Wheat‘s J Street Recorders studio — which also served as the last recordings with original member Tommy Skeoch — and six newly recorded tracks, including acoustic remakes of songs from TESLA‘s entire catalog and two brand new songs, “Second Street” and “Better Off Without You”.

TESLA released a live album, “Alive In Europe!”, in Europe on April 23, 2010 via Frontiers Records.

TESLA‘s latest studio album, “Forever More”, sold more than 16,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 33 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on October 7, 2008 on Tesla Electric Company Recordings. The European version of the album, which was made available on November 7, 2008 via Frontiers Records, contains two bonus tracks not found on the American version.

RockNLive.org conducted an interview with California rockers Y&T when the band performed at Le Forum in in Vauréal, France on September 28. You can now watch the chat below.

Y&T‘s live album, “Live At The Mystic”, was released in November 2012 via Frontiers Records.

Following original bassist Phil Kennemore‘s untimely passing from lung cancer in early 2011, the band carried on the legacy that is Y&T. With Brad Lang on bass and vocals, Y&T prove their continued strength with “Live At The Mystic”, a double live CD recorded at the legendary Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, California, one of the most popular venues that Y&T play every year. The two-CD set includes 22 songs recorded over two nights in November 2011, including many tracks never before released on any other live Y&T CD. The amazing heat to the tracks showcases the power of the band as it currently sounds, playing songs from “Facemelter” as well as all the hits and fan favorites.

“Songs like ‘Dirty Girl’, with its extended solo section of John Nymann and myself tearing into a nearly three-minute back-and-forth solo was especially a great performance,” said guitarist/vocalist Dave Meniketti. “Also, many of the classic tunes like ‘Black Tiger’, ‘Don’t Wanna Lose’ and ‘Mean Streak’ were very well played and show some of the best live performances of these songs we’ve ever recorded. But I also feel strongly about our more mastered performances from our latest ‘Facemelter’ CD. The energy and much more refined versions of these songs, now that we’ve really had some time to hone in the vibe of these tunes, make it that much more special of a live recording.”

Dutch symphonic rockers WITHIN TEMPTATION have just released the “Paradise (What About Us?)” EP and promotional video, featuring a unique collaboration with classically trained Finnish rock diva, former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen, guesting on the title track.

Comments WITHIN TEMPTATION frontwoman Sharon Den Adel: “When we had written the first version of ‘Paradise’ and listened back to the demo we’d recorded and the epic power of the song, we thought of Tarja instantly. How well this track would fit her classical voice and how extra special it would be if we sang it together. The more we thought about this wild idea, the more excited we got about it!”

Following several video trailers teasing the track, fans have been speculating on the band’s Facebook page who the duet would be with, some guessing it couldn’t possibly be a “competing” artist like Tarja. However, the two singers had no hesitation joining forces, having never thought of themselves as competitors. Sharon continues: “Of course I didn’t know what to expect from Tarja, as we’d never actually met in person ’till June this year. Our first encounter was via a Skype call we’d set-up to discuss the collaboration and we immediately clicked, not only creatively but personally. After we’d spoken, it felt completely natural that we would do this together!”

Tarja adds: “It was very nice to finally meet Sharon and the WITHIN TEMPTATION guys. I truly appreciate the invitation and the opportunity to work with them on their song ‘Paradise’. So wonderful that they thought of me! I hope our fans will like this ‘girl power’ duet!”

The song and accompanying music video share a central theme; that only constructive cooperation can lead to creation. To establish a new paradise, rising from the ashes of the old, we must work together.

For the first time, WITHIN TEMPTATION has also decided to give fans a very intimate insight into how they capture their song ideas early on. The EP will contain three additional tracks — demo versions of brand new songs intended for the forthcoming album. The demos include “Let Us Burn”, “Silver Moonlight” and “Dog Days”. Despite the demo versions missing intended symphonic, orchestral sounds and a finished mix, the powerful energy surging through the tracks can be heard right from the start.

The duet between Sharon and Tarja is just one facet of the new material. WITHIN TEMPTATION guitarist Robert Westerholt reveals: “For the first time, WITHIN TEMPTATION will release an album with several artistic collaborations, some of which will be seen as groundbreaking for our band and musical style.”

Consequently, the recording and production of the sixth studio album is still underway. With a release date set for end of January 2014, it is therefore necessary to reschedule the previously announced first leg of the band’s worldwide tour to allow time to rehearse the live show and prepare for the album’s release.

The band’s world tour will now begin on February 26, 2014 in Helsinki, with some newly added Eastern European dates, announced today, which will go on sale on Friday, September 20. The rescheduled shows will kick off on April 6 in Munich and run through to May 2 in Amsterdam. The band intends to add further overseas dates during the remainder of 2014.

Robert says: “We understand that the rescheduled tour dates are a blow for the many fans who have bought tickets early and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. We hope they feel a little compensated by the release of our new, special priced four-song EP, which gives them full insight into the kind of album we are working on. To make up for the rescheduled dates, we’re now pressured to work even harder to deliver our best and most impressive live production ever on the upcoming tour. However, the completion of a great new album is a prerequisite for that! And therefore the only option was to reschedule the dates for Western Europe.”

Tickets that have been purchased already will remain valid for the rescheduled dates.

Pre-order of the digital EP starts today, September 13.

“Paradise (What About Us?)” track listing:

01. Paradise (What About Us?) (feat. Tarja Turunen)
02. Let Us Burn (demo version)
03. Silver Moonlight (demo version)
04. Dog Days (demo version)

Professionally filmed video footage of Swedish occult rockers GHOST performing the song “Secular Haze” live on May 11 at Webster Hall in New York City can be seen below.

A nameless ghoul stated: “Playing in New York will always feel very special for us, since it was the first city in the U.S. that embraced us. Every time we play there, it marks another step up for us — going from filling up the basement at Webster Hall, to filling up the Bowery to finally play at sold-out Webster Hall. We simply love New York.”

GHOST‘s sophomore album, “Infestissumam”, sold around 14,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 28 on The Billboard 200 chart.

The CD topped the official chart in the group’s home country after selling nearly five times as many copies as the No. 2 album, MISS LI‘s “Wolves”.

In a recent interview with ARTISTdirect, a nameless ghoul from GHOST said about “Infestissumam”: “It feels way more theatrical and bombastic. In many ways, ‘Infestissumam’ is thematically a continuation of where [the debut album] ‘Opus Eponymous’ began. Whereas a lot of the thematic ideas we have in mind for upcoming albums might differ a little bit and will go in another direction. That’s not to say we won’t sing about the things we do and not have makeup. I’m just saying it will evolve into other things in the future. On this record, I feel like we’re doing a lot of things we intended to do on the first naïvely being we could pull off a show like that at that point — which we couldn’t. Now, we have a little bit more muscle. The attendance is probably more in accordance with being able to present a show like that.”

Regarding the lyrical themes covered “Infestissumam”, the nameless ghoul said: “Thematically we knew the major difference between the first and the second albums as much as we do between the second and the third. It’s a bit ironic now. Jumping up to the contemporary controversy with our album artwork and the refusal of printers to print the art is funny because the whole record is about the presence of the devil. Obviously, it’s about how mankind relate to the presence of the devil. Historically, it’s always been the female body that has taken the fall for that, which is what happened in this case. The problem was a vagina in the art not the inverted crosses.”

GHOST was forced to modify its name in the U.S. to GHOST B.C. for “legal reasons.”

“Tour De Force” is the eagerly awaited follow-up to THE POODLES‘ Swedish No. 1 album from 2011, “Performocracy”. Behind the wheel, taking on the duties of producer for a fourth time, was Mats Valentin and once again, the band wishes to underline with the album title their superb entertaining abilities both as a hard-rocking studio unit and as live act.

“When writing and creating music, we try to do something that we would love to listen to ourselves. It’s always been important for us to do music close to our hearts,” said bass player Pontus Egberg. “I do feel, however, that there’s a newly found playfulness about a lot of the tracks. I’m not quite sure what it is myself, but it’s great!”

With songs like “Shut Up”, “Happily Ever After”, “Kings And Fools” and “Going Down”, THE POODLES stay true to their legacy of powerful, melodic metal while at the same time stretching into a new, more playful arena, flirting with influences from the past but always with a watchful eye on the present and in to the future.
