Following Motörhead being forced to cut their set short at Wacken due to Lemmy’s ongoing health issues, Slash has posted an update on the progress of the rock ‘n’ roll icon.

“Visited Lemmy today; he’s doing well,” says the legendary guitarist. “There’s been a lot of rumors. But he’s in good shape and finishing Motörhead record now.”

The band themselves posted the following statement following their Wacken set:

“The show had to go on because that’s how Lemmy rolls. Even though he was not 100% fit, he refused to feel he was letting the 85,000 Wacken fans down.

“They kicked ass in the 100-plus-degree heat for a shortened, but powerful, set before Lemmy finally realized he might have bitten off a little more than he could chew. Thus, he will embark upon the recuperation recommended. We know that rumors are flying around, but once he fully recharges, Motörhead will be back, don’t you worry!”

New Motörhead album Aftershock is due later this year, and the band are due to play the following UK dates with Saxon in the Autumn:

Weds 13th November 2013 – NOTTINGHAM Royal Concert
Thur 14th November 2013 – NEWCASTLE City Hall

Motorhead

Some distressing news filtering through this morning as Motörhead were forced to cancel shows in Austria and Italy due to Lemmy suffering what has been described as “unspecified hematoma”.

“With great regret we inform you that, after [Motorhead had] canceled a date in Austria yesterday, Motorhead are also forced to cancel the date of June 25 in Milan, for the same reason,” state the Milan promoters, “health problems with Lemmy, caused by a strong hematoma, makes it impossible at present to go on stage.”

Hematoma is a a localised collection of blood outside the blood vessels, usually in the form of a blood clot. With Lemmy having recently been fitted with a defibrillator due to an irregular heart beat, it looks like the rock ‘n’ roll icon is taking a bit of a battering at the moment, so everyone here at Hammer wishes him a speedy recovery and hopes to see him back on his feet ASAP.

It’s a fact that Chrissie Hynde of Akron, Ohio, is cool. She has the snarling songs and detached attitude required of any rock ‘n roll icon, and, just as important, she has the look. At the age of 57 she fills out a pair of blue jeans better than most other mothers of two.
