On Wednesday, September 25, San Antonio, Texas’ Kens5.com conducted an interview with DEF LEPPARD members Rick Savage (bass) and Joe Elliott (vocals). You can now watch the segment below.

DEF LEPPARD‘s recent Las Vegas extravaganza will hit the silver screen for two nights in October. NCM Fathom Events together with AEG Live and Network Live are bringing DEF LEPPARD “Viva! Hysteria” concert to over 250 theaters across the country with a full front-to-back performance of 1987’s multi-platinum “Hysteria” album — along with a healthy dose of the band’s greatest hits. Tickets for the screenings are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, Joe Elliott shed some light DEF LEPPARD‘s recent Vegas residency at the 4,000-capacity Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, explaining, “We’ve been asked for many years if we’d ever play an album in its entirety, and the answer was always no because we’d be out promoting a new album. Then in March and April 2013 when we had no new music to promote, we had a chance to revisit arguably our most important album. It was an easy decision to make.”

He went on to say that the stigma involved in rock musicians playing “Sin City” has long passed: “As for Vegas, it’s no longer perceived as the place crooners go to die! Artists like MÖTLEY CRÜE, ELTON JOHN, GUNS N’ ROSES and CHEAP TRICK have recently done residencies and rock n’ roll has definitely moved in! So, there was no better place for us to take the show. It was a fantastic experience for us and for our fans.”

Joe Elliott told The Pulse Of Radio that the band’s humble beginnings back in England never even hinted at where they’d be today. “35 years after starting out in a little school in Sheffield, and then the next thing we’re doing a residency in Vegas,” he said. “It was never on the agenda back then, y’know? But being in a band more than seven or eight years wasn’t either. So, at this moment in time you’re just kinda making things up as you go along, because, things just keep appearing for us. Like; ‘Hey — you guys fancy doing this?’ ‘Well, that’s something we’ve never done.’ And as soon as we can say that out loud, it’s appealing for us to do it, ”cause it gets you off the treadmill.”

The theatrical showings will be followed by a companion DVD, Blu-ray and live album that Elliott tells Billboard.com will chronicle “the whole shebang” — not only the “Hysteria” set but all of the other songs DEF LEPPARD played over the two nights the show was filmed.

“VIVA! Hysteria – Live at the Joint, Las Vegas” will be made available on CD, Blu-ray disc, DVD Video, and digital download in October at your favorite music retailer.

Tom Keifer, best known as the singer/songwriter/guitarist of the Philadelphia-based blues-rock band CINDERELLA, was interviewed by Travis Rodriguez of “Daytime At Nine” this past May in San Antonio, Texas. You can watch the chat below.

Keifer‘s debut solo album, “The Way Life Goes”, sold 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 78 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on April 30 via Merovee Records (through Warner Music Group‘s Independent Label Group).

In a recent interview with Examiner.com, Keifer stated about the prospect of going solo: “It was a little scary at first. I’ve played with the same band for nearly 30 years. Going out on your own is like being on a little block of ice, floating out to sea, I guess. But I’ve got an incredible band out here, and they’re not only great musicians but they really great guys and we get along really well. And Savannah [Tom‘s wife] is out here and she’s part of the show. She comes out and sings some songs with me. The show’s a really nice mix of new songs and we’re doing a lot of the old CINDERELLA songs so that’s familiar for me. It’s ingrained in me.”

Regarding his songwriting process, Tom told Music Junkie Press: “Well, I try to write from real inspirations and it always starts from a lyric for me. Even the hard and heavy songs that you would think that started on guitars actually started from lyrics. So that inspiration can come at any time; you can be driving down the road or in aisle 6 at Home Depot. You got this idea in your head and then you are racing for an instrument to try and figure out what you are hearing. I will hear a lyric, a songtitle, or a chorus or line or something usually with a melody and it grows from there.”

Tom also spoke about the growing trend by music consumers of purchasing and downloading individual songs through digital outlets rather than experiencing full-length albums as they were intended to be heard by the artists that created them.

“I think every generation has their way and it is not wrong,” he said. “I think that what would probably help people to be more into whole works of arts or records is that artists create whole works of art or whole records. Like a ‘Physical Graffiti’ or an ‘Exile On Main Street’, or ‘Hotel California’ — [those] are some of the ones I grew up on. Or FLEETWOOD MAC ‘Rumors’, AEROSMITH‘s well of them; ‘Toys In The Attic’. Those were incredible albums from beginning to end. I think there are still some artists that still do that, but I think with the shrinking budgets at record companies, artist development isn’t what it used to be, recording budgets are not what they used to be. So I think less and less, we are not getting great full albums. That is the Catch 22 of the lost revenues from downloading. I don’t know that the average listener out there or fan realizes that by swiping music you kind of hurt the art itself and record companies. I mean, I know everyone views the record companies as the big evil corporate thing or whatever, but there is a lot of good that comes from them too. They do help to develop artists, and back in the ’60s, ’70s and the ’80s when we were coming up, they stayed with you and they developed you. They made sure you were working in the best studios, working with the best engineers and the best producers and that is a good thing. That is how you get great albums. That still goes on today; don’t get me wrong, I just think it is less artists get the opportunity for that because of the budgets and the mentality of the record companies have changed, due to lost revenues and we all know why. There are many reasons of why that has happened and a lot of that has to do with the technology we have. The second the first audio file transmitted over the Internet we were really all sunk. In terms of what the door it had opened up for causing problems within the industry.”

The song “Firefly” can be streamed below.

Says Alder: “‘Firefly’ is very personal to me in more ways than one….

“After I had written the melody for this song, I knew immediately what the title was going to be, as well as the subject; it just fit the mood.

“As for the subject, I’m pretty sure we’ve all felt this way at one time or another.

“Sometimes things just don’t work out the way you think they would, but that’s okay, that’s part of life… We move on. Ironically, while recording ‘Firefly’ in New Hampshire, I was outside the studio late one night, and there they were, floating through the trees in the forest! I hadn’t seen a single firefly for at least fifteen years since I had left my hometown of San Antonio, Texas, so I kinda took it as a sign. A sign of what, I don’t know… But very ironic nonetheless…”

Regarding “Darkness In A Different Light”, Alder previously said: “‘Darkness In A Different Light’ is the result of almost two years of very hard work from everyone in the band.

“I believe that this lineup is the best that FATES WARNING has ever had, and I also think that it comes through in the music on this album.

“It’s been almost nine years since our last studio album and I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished here.

“We are looking very much forward to playing some new songs for our fans who have stuck by us over all these years.

“We plan on touring as much as possible for ‘Darkness In A Different Light’ and hopefully we’ll hit a few places we’ve never been.”

FATES WARNING will embark on a North American tour in November. The trek will launch November 15 in Joliet, Illinois and wrap December 14 in Seattle, Washington.

The “Parallels” lineup of FATES WARNING played a number of shows in 2010 in support of the released special edition of the album, which was made available through Metal Blade Records. In addition to remastered audio, there is a second audio disc of live and demo material. The package also includes a DVD with nearly three hours of material, including a complete live show from the 1992 “Parallels” tour and a documentary on the making of “Parallels” which includes live, studio, and current day interview footage with all the band members, Terry Brown (producer) and Brian Slagel (CEO of Metal Blade Records).

FATES WARNING‘s last CD, “X”, was released in 2004 on Metal Blade Records. The follow-up to 2000’s “Disconnected” was recorded at Carriage House studios in Stamford, Connecticut and features cover artwork by renowned record-cover artist Ioannis (DREAM THEATER, SEPULTURA, DEEP PURPLE, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, KING CRIMSON, BIOHAZARD, VOIVOD, UFO, OVERKILL).

“Dead Can See”, the new video from EVIL UNITED — the Austin/San Antonio, Texas-based band featuring Jason McMaster (WATCHTOWER, DANGEROUS TOYS, BROKEN TEETH) on vocals, a double guitar assault of T.C. Connally (PB/DC, CULT TO FOLLOW) and John Valenzuela (PB/DC, URIAL) as well as the brutal rhythm section of Don Van Stavern (RIOT, S.A. SLAYER) on bass and “Shakes” West (MURDERDOLLS, NEUROTICA, SEBASTIAN BACH) on drums — can be seen below. The song will appear on the band’s sophomore full-length album, which is currently “in the mixdown phase.” Connally says: “We can’t wait for people to hear the new material.”

EVIL UNITED instantly delivers what fans expect and demand from the Lone Star state: intricate, heavy, pounding rhythms, screeching guitar solos and over-the-top power-screaming vocals. The band was described by Lior “Steinmetal” Stein of Metal-Temple.com as “fresh with an old-school orientation.”

EVIL UNITED‘s self-titled debut album was released in September 2011 via MVD Entertainment Group.

McMaster previously stated about EVIL UNITED: “I think there are a lot of bands playing this type of metal right now, but I believe that EVIL UNITED has something different about it. There is a wide range of influence, lots of peaks and valleys to explore, without losing any of the extreme.

“It’s a pleasure to work with Texas metal alumni such as these guys; they shred but they are paying attention to the thrash and power as well as the melody.”

Black Veil Brides hit the UK later this year

Whatever you think of Black Veil Brides, and heaven knows everyone has an opinion on them at least, you have to admire Andy Biersack for classily taking down some bozo in the crowd at the Vans Warped Tour in San Antonio, Texas, who had obviously turned up purely to shout a bit of abuse and be a general wally.

Watch the video below. Like we said, you don’t have to be a fan to see where Andy is coming from here:

Besides challenging the guy to get up on stage, Andy makes a fine point: if you hate a band so much, why are you stood there watching them? Don’t be a wally. Positive Metal Attitude, guys…

Andy and his crew will be hitting up the following venues in December:

DECEMBER
14 – LONDON The Roundhouse
15 – BRISTOL O2 Academy
17 – WOLVERHAMPTON Wulfrun
18 – GLASGOW Barrowlands
19 – MANCHESTER Academy
20 – NOTTINGHAM Rock City

Latest BVB album Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones is out now.
