METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich was interviewed this past week by Nikki Blakk of the San Francisco, California radio station 107.7 The Bone about the band’s new 3D IMAX movie, “Metallica Through The Never”. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below.

Asked if there are any other surprises METALLICA has in store for its fans, Ulrich said: “There’s a very interesting thing coming our way in December. Nobody knows that, so… There’s another frontier heading in METALLICA‘s direction in December. Which, if anybody [working for the band’s management] even knew that I just said what I just said, they would hunt me down and silence me. But there is another frontier coming in December, which we’re very excited about.”

Lars was also asked if there are already plans underway for METALLICA to stage the third installment of its Orion Music + More festival in Detroit, Michigan next year.

“We haven’t gotten that far the last couple of months,” Lars said.

“Detroit was a great experience. We’d love to bring this thing back to Detroit. We’ve gotta sit down and look at the practical parts of it. And our good friends at [promoters] C3 [Presents] have gotta sit down and probably get their calculators out and all that stuff that we try to stay out of…

It’s great to do [Orion], we love doing it. I’d do Orion for the rest of our lives, if possible.

“It’s not an easy thing to launch a festival, but we’ve had a lot of fun the last two years doing it, and we hope to bring it back to Detroit.

“We’ve gotta run around the world for the next six weeks and hear ourselves talk about this movie and all that stuff, but probably on the other side of that, in October or November, we’ll start looking at the realities of Orion next year and then take it from there.”

Spokesperson Charlie Walker of promoter C3 Presents said a few months ago that around 20,000 attended the first day of this year’s Orion Music + More, with possibly more showing up on the second day.

A total of 37 groups, including the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, DEFTONES, SILVERSUN PICKUPS, RISE AGAINST and BASSNECTAR, performed on Orion‘s five stages.

Behind-the-scenes and performance footage from KAMELOT‘s September 20 concert at Slim’s in San Francisco, California can be seen below.

KAMELOT keyboardist Oliver Palotai is sitting out the band’s North American tour so he can stay home with longtime girlfriend Simone Simons, (EPICA singer) as they await the birth of their first child. Filling in for him is Coen Janssen of EPICA.

KAMELOT‘s latest album, “Silverthorn”, sold 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 79 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band’s previous CD, “Poetry For The Poisoned”, opened with around 6,100 units in September 2010 to enter the chart at No. 74.

“Silverthorn” was released on October 30, 2012 in North America, October 26, 2012 in Germany and October 29, 2012 in the rest of Europe via Steamhammer/SPV. The CD marks the band’s first release with Tommy Karevik, the Swedish vocalist who previously fronted SEVENTH WONDER (a group that he is still a member of).

In a 2012 interview with Loudwire, KAMELOT guitarist Thomas Youngblood stated about what Karevik brings to the band: “I think when we knew we had to bring in a new person on vocals, we wanted the opportunity to grow the band, not just to maintain the band or survive. We wanted to look at this as an opportunity to make the band bigger, [and] I think with Tommy we can do that. Not only is he an exceptional singer, he’s a great songwriter and he’s way ahead of what I thought he would be in terms of being a frontman. People who come out to shows will see that this guy is a force to be reckoned with. I can’t imagine a better choice, honestly. In the beginning, when this whole thing started, we were a little unsure of what the future might be, but now we’re really excited about it.”

On August 25, The Mighty Z of Capital Chaos TV conducted an interview with guitarist/vocalist Cristiano Trionfera of Italian symphonic death metallers FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco, California. You can now watch the chat below. Also available is performance footage of the San Francisco concert.

FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE‘s new album, “Labyrinth”, was released on August 16 in Europe and August 20 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was mixed and mastered by Stefano “Saul” Morabito. The cover artwork was once again created by Colin Marks, who was also responsible for several neoclassical pieces of art in the massive inlay.

Comments FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE‘s Francesco Paoli: “‘Labyrinth’ is THE album for FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE. It’s the perfect combination of all our strong points with the best production we’ve ever had. It’s definitely the most FLESHGOD thing we’ve ever thought with the most FLESHGOD riffs, lyrics, melodies, drumparts, solos, etc. We went deep inside the core of this music, we broke it, and we finally unleashed these eleven songs.”

Added Tommaso Riccardi: “The concept of this album is based on the myth of the Labyrinth of Knossos and every character related to it. We focused on the philological aspect in order to represent all the elements of the classic world and, through a manic and meticolous research, we managed to create a metaphor with our times, as the maze can be associated with the endless search for what we really are. We’re sure you will be stunned by this as much as we are.”

Capital Chaos TV has uploaded video footage of SIX FEET UNDER performing the song “Shadow Of The Reaper” on July 17 at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco, California. Check it out below.

SIX FEET UNDER earlier in the year parted ways with drummer Kevin Talley and replaced him with Marco Pitruzzella.

Marco previously played with SIX FEET UNDER bassist Jeff Hughell in BRAIN DRILL.

SIX FEET UNDER‘s tenth full-length album, “Unborn”, was released on March 19 via Metal Blade Records. The follow-to to 2012’s “Undead” was mixed by Chris “Zeuss” Harris, who has previously worked with SUICIDE SILENCE, ALL THAT REMAINS, SHADOWS FALL and SOULFLY, among others.

“Unborn” was released as an exclusive European box-set edition which included the limited digipak of “Unborn” and a bonus track entitled “Illusions”. Additionally the box featured a poster, a patch, two pins and a sticker plus enough space for last year’s “Undead” album. The bonus track was featured on the vinyl version of “Unborn” as well.
