Bassist Chris Beattie of Connecticut hardcore/metal masters HATEBREED will sit out the band’s fall North American headlining tour after sustaining an injury in an accident. His temporary replacement on the road will be Matt Bachand of SHADOWS FALL.

HATEBREED‘s tour kicks off tonight (Thursday, September 26) in Poughkeepsie, New York and features direct support from SHADOWS FALL, along with special guests THE ACACIA STRAIN and BATTLECROSS.

Says Beattie: “On Monday, a large branch fell off a tree I was cutting and knocked the ladder I was on out from under me. I fell 8 feet off the ladder onto the sidewalk and luckily was able to throw the chainsaw away from me on the way down. I broke my left wrist and right elbow.

“I will be going ‘under the knife’ this Friday to correct the breaks and start the healing process.

Jamey [Jasta, vocals], Wayne [Lozinak, guitar], Matt [Byrne, drums], Frank [Novinec, guitar] and our manager Steve have all been very supportive and I look forward to getting back out on the stage as soon as I can.

“Please go out and support HATEBREED as they leave for a short U.S. tour today.

“Thanks to Matt from SHADOWS FALL for filling in for me. See you soon.”

HATEBREED‘s latest album, “The Divinity Of Purpose”, sold 17,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 20 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was made available on January 29 in North America via Razor & Tie and on January 25 in Europe through Nuclear Blast. The CD was co-produced by HATEBREED, Chris “Zeuss” Harris (SUICIDE SILENCE, ALL THAT REMAINS, SHADOWS FALL) and Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD, AVENGED SEVENFOLD), with Wilbur also handling mixing duties. The cover artwork was created and illustrated by Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, ATHEIST, SIGH, ANACRUSIS, GWAR).

A teaser for “Open The Gates Of Hell”, the new video from Southern California metallers WINDS OF PLAGUE, can be seen below. The song comes off the band’s fourth album, “Resistance”, which will be released on October 29 via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded with producer Will Putney, who has previously worked with SHADOWS FALL and SUICIDE SILENCE, among others.

WINDS OF PLAGUE last year parted ways with drummer Art Cruz due to creative differences. Sitting behind the kit during the studio sessions for the new album was Brandon Gallindo (ex-DEAD IN EXISTENCE).

WINDS OF PLAGUE will embark on a tour with BLEEDING THROUGH in early November.

WINDS OF PLAGUE‘s third full-length CD, “Against The World”, sold 8,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 60 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released on April 19, 2011 via Century Media Records, the effort featured guest appearances from members of HATEBREED, TERROR, FOR TODAY, STRAY FROM THE PATH and former world heavyweight wrestling champion and sports entertainment legend Ultimate Warrior (who performs an epic spoken-word track entitled “The Warrior Code”).

The official lyric video for the song “Dead Man Breathing” from Connecticut hardcore/metal masters HATEBREED can be seen below. The track comes off the band’s latest album, “The Divinity Of Purpose”, which sold 17,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No.

In a recent interview with PureGrainAudio.com, guitarist Frank Novinec stated about the musical direction of “The Divinity Of Purpose”: “We are a universal band like MOTÖRHEAD, where we appeal to rock, metal and hardcore fans, and we feel that we can step outside of our boundaries at times. We did that about as much as we wanted to on the last record and some people were into it and some people weren’t, but there were some great songs in there. I think, definitely, for this one, we wanted it more straightforward; more meat and potatoes. We are a band that has been around for a long time and it is really difficult to come up with something fresh, but I think we achieved that on ‘The Divinity Of Purpose’. More than anything, though, I am really proud at what a solid effort this record is from the beginning to the end.”

Regarding the cover artwork for “The Divinity Of Purpose”, Novinec said: “We had an artist who has done stuff for SODOM and TESTAMENT and others do this one for us. It was kind of a risk, because a lot of people thought, once they saw the cover, that the album was going to be really, really metal, and that is not the case at all. We wanted something different. We are open to different things and experimenting, and we certainly did that with this album cover, but when you look at it, it has the black-and-red classic HATEBREED look to it even though it is something new to us with the painting. I think it is real cool. This is an exciting time for us; everything from having a new album out, being on tour and the artwork.”

GENERATION KILL, the band featuring EXODUS frontman Rob Dukes, will release its sophomore album, “We’re All Gonna Die”, on November 15 via Nuclear Blast. The CD was produced by Chris “Zeuss” Harris, who has previously worked with SUICIDE SILENCE, ALL THAT REMAINS, SHADOWS FALL and SOULFLY, among others.

Commented Dukes: “We called this album ‘We’re All Gonna Die’ because, for the most part, the lyrics are about the darker side of the existence of humans on this planet.

“The album as a whole is so diverse, drawing from our influences that we grew up on.

“We achieved our goal of creating something that we all are so proud of. I personally think this is the strongest vocal performance of my career, and as a band we can’t wait for the hard rock/metal world to hear this album.”

Added Zeuss: “This album is not an EXODUS clone. This is an album of music where five guys got together an explored our own roots of music, the records we grew up listening to and wrote songs paying homage to what we love.”

“We’re All Gonna Die” track listing:

01. Born To Serve
02. Prophets Of War
03. Self Destruction
04. Friendly Fire
05. Carny Love
06. Vegas
07. There Is No Hope
08. We’re All Gonna Die

GENERATION KILL‘s debut album, “Red White And Blood”, was released in September 2011. The CD was recorded at J. Rod Production Studios in New City, New York (where the vocal tracks for EXODUS“Let There Be Blood” and OVERKILL‘s “Ironbound” were previously laid down).

Rob Dukes – Vocals
Rob Moschetti – Bass/Backing Vocals
Jason Trenczer – Lead Guitar
Jason Velez – Lead Guitar

Video footage of SHADOWS FALL‘s Jason Bittner laying down the drum tracks to the song “Godless World” by a band called WITHIN THE FIRE can be seen below. Jason says: “It was pretty much a perfect take until the stick drop at the end… Of course, I edited that out!”

SHADOWS FALL tapped Willis Mathiasen of 2CENTS to sit behind the drums for some of their shows at the end of 2012 while Bittner received treatment for acute pancreatitis. Bittner rejoined his bandmates on stage on December 19, 2012 at Pearl St. in Northampton, Massachusetts.

SHADOWS FALL is continuing to tour in support of its new album, “Fire From The Sky”, which sold around 10,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 38 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on May 15, 2012 via Razor & Tie.

Recorded at Zing Studios in late 2011, “Fire From The Sky” reunites SHADOWS FALL with longtime friend, producer/engineer and KILLSWITCH ENGAGE/TIMES OF GRACE guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, ALL THAT REMAINS). The album was mixed by Brian Virtue and features some of the band’s most complex and melodic material in years.

MISFITSJerry Only joined HATEBREED on stage last night (Sunday, September 15) at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey to perform the MISFITS classic “Hatebreeders”. Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.

HATEBREED‘s cover version of “Hatebreeders” song was included on the Connecticut hardcore/metal masters’ covers album, entitled “For The Lions”, which sold around 10,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 58 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Released in the U.S. in May 2009 via E1 Music “For The Lions” contained songs that were carefully selected by HATEBREED to represent a panoramic view of some of their favorite artists and greatest musical inspirations. Having completed the album in 2008, the band felt their work wasn’t done yet and just returned to the studio with original guitar player Wayne Lozinak to record additional tracks for the album.

ANTHRAX has officially commenced the songwriting process for the band’s next studio album, tentatively due in 2014. Guitarist Scott Ian tweeted this past Saturday: “Today [drummer Charlie Benante] and [bassist Frank Bello] are coming over to start writing for the next record. The few skeletons that are rattling around sound vicious!”

Benante recently spent time recovering from surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome. He rejoined his bandmates for their September 13 performance at “The Battle Of San Bernardino” festival in San Bernardino, California alongside IRON MAIDEN, MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, OVERKILL and SABATON.

The first photo of the new ANTHRAX lineup — featuring the band’s latest addition, guitarist Jon Donais (SHADOWS FALL) — can be seen below (photo by Stephanie Cabral).

Donais has been touring with ANTHRAX since Rob Caggiano‘s departure in January, and will continue to play with ANTHRAX for the foreseeable future.

Speaking to Metal Hammer editor Alexander Milas for the “Metal Hammer” radio show on TeamRock Radio, Scott Ian stated about the band’s current second-guitarist situation: “Jon‘s been with us since February, and I think I can safely say he’s passed the audition… [laughs]. I know we haven’t said anything official yet, but in my mind, he’s the guy. I’m sure some type of official announcement… because in this world, people apparently need that kind of information so they can sleep well at night. But as far as I’m concerned, Jon is the guitar player in ANTHRAX.”

Donais previously stated about playing with ANTHRAX: “I grew up on ANTHRAX, they’re the thrash scene, they’re one of the ‘Big Four,’ I’d be crazy to not want to play with them. Initially, Rob called and told me he was leaving the band, and asked if I’d be interested in filling in. Then Scott called me and everything fell into place.”

Syracuse, New York-based hardcore veterans EARTH CRISIS have entered Red Booth Recording in Rochester to begin recording their next album for an early 2014 release via Candlelight Records. The CD will reportedly be mixed by Chris “Zeuss” Harris, who has previously worked with SUICIDE SILENCE, ALL THAT REMAINS, SHADOWS FALL and SOULFLY, among others.

No hardcore or metal fan can be unaware of EARTH CRISIS or the contributions the band has made to heavy music since their founding in 1989. Championing the weak and the voiceless, the band has over 200,000 catalogue sales to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Regardless of passing trends, the five-piece has maintained their vision, dedication to their craft (and causes), and most importantly respected their fans in the 20-plus years of their performing career.

Founded by vocalist Karl Buechner, EARTH CRISIS has enjoyed two chapters in their musical journey. From 1991 to 2001, the straight-edge, vegan band would cultivate a global fanbase. Enduring numerous line-up changes, van accidents, and the natural up-and-down of music industry fads, the band released five full-length albums, two EPs, and two live albums before saying goodbye before a sold out audience at the sixth annual Hellfest in 2001. Six years later, the band would reunite and perform at the Maryland Metal And Hardcore Festival January 2007. It would open the door to additional performances in the U.S. and Europe, later leading to the band’s headline appearance at 2008’s Firestorm Fest. A rejuvenated EARTH CRISIS would later record two albums, “To The Death” (2008) and “Neutralize The Threat” (2011). Each followed by extensive international touring. Revealing a bit about the new album and its focus, Buechner conveys: “Lyrically this new record is going to focus strictly on an animal rights/anti-vivisection theme. Of course, this is what the band is known for, but we’ve actually never solely dedicated an entire album to the topic.”
