On August 31, KZRR 94 Rock morning show host Swami Rob conducted an interview with ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell and bassist Mike Inez. You can now listen to the chat below.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, Cantrell was asked recently in an interview with Radio.com about the chances of his band getting inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. ALICE IN CHAINS‘ debut album, “Facelift”, came out in 1990, which would make the group eligible in 2015. Cantrell, who performed at this year’s ceremony with inductees HEART, said about the possibility, “We’re not in this to win awards. And that’s the attitude I went there with. And I have to say, in fairness, that my opinion was a bit changed by being a guest with HEART and seeing how much it meant for them. It was a cool show, it was with a lot of respect. I was kind of moved.”

Cantrell added, “I also liked what [RUSH drummer and Hall Of Fame inductee] Neil Peart said: ‘For years, we’ve been saying that this isn’t a big deal. Turns out: it’s a pretty big deal!’ It was cool to see him say that.”

ALICE IN CHAINS‘ fellow Seattle groups, SOUNDGARDEN and PEARL JAM, are also at or close to eligibility. SOUNDGARDEN is eligible now, while PEARL JAM will celebrate 25 years since the release of “Ten” in 2016.

ALICE IN CHAINS is currently touring behind its fifth studio album, “The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here”, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard album chart in June, selling 61,000 copies in its first week of release. The disc follows up 2009’s “Black Gives Way To Blue”, which was the group’s first all-new collection of material in 14 years. That CD opened with 126,000 units back in October 2009 to debut at No. 5.

ALICE IN CHAINS was last in the Top Two with its self-titled 1995 set, which debuted at No. 1 on that year’s November 25 chart, according to Billboard.com. It would be their final studio release with singer Layne Staley, who died in 2002.

“The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here” is ALICE IN CHAINS‘ second album with William DuVall on vocals.

DuVall began touring with the group in 2006, four years after the death of Layne Staley from a drug overdose.

ALICE IN CHAINS began working on the new disc in 2011, but the sessions for the album were delayed when Jerry Cantrell had to undergo shoulder surgery.

On August 21, KZRR 94 Rock morning show host Swami Rob conducted an interview with AVENGED SEVENFOLD guitarist Zacky Vengeance. You can now listen to the chat below.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD will release its sixth studio album, “Hail To The King”, on August 27. The long-awaited follow-up to 2010’s “Nightmare” was once again produced by Mike Elizondo and is the first to be wholly written without drummer and key songwriter James “The Rev” Sullivan, who died in December 2009. Sullivan has since been replaced by Arin Ilejay, a former member of CONFIDE.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD has announced the “Hail To The King” tour — a massive headlining U.S. arena tour to take place this October and the band’s first full scale American tour since 2011. The run of dates will kick off in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, October 3 and wrap up on October 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Supporting the band on all dates will be special guests DEFTONES and GHOST B.C.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD will celebrate the album release by playing a free show at the Hollywood Palladium on August 26.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD‘s video for the song “Hail To The King” can be seen below. The clip was directed by Syndrome, an award-winning design and live-action directing studio.

The five-piece were supported by Bleed From Within, Crossfaith and Polar and were, basically, fucking amazing.

Hulk Hogan And Lars

And the unlikely-story-but-actually-not-that-unlikely-because-we-kind-heard-about-this-already story of the day goes to…

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has responded to long-held rumours that, after the departure of bassist Jason Newstead in 2001, one-time WWE legend Hulk Hogan almost joined the band!

“You know what?! I’m blessed or cursed, depending on how you look at it, with having more or less a photographic memory for pretty much anything that I’ve been a part of,” Lars told US chat show host Howard Stern. “That one, when that showed up two or three months ago, I was scratching my head over that one. Unless he went by… I don’t know Hulk Hogan, I don’t know enough about him… I’m not a huge wrestling [fan]… Unless he went by, like, his Christian name or something, and I don’t know if anybody knows what his Christian name was — Dave Smith or something — if there was a whole thing that we had with him under a different name, but I certainly have no recollection of doing anything with quote Hulk Hogan endquote. That one, I was scratching my head on that one, too.”

Right, so we can put that one to bed.

Metallica are on the cover of the huge new issue of Metal Hammer, out right now and also featuring Slipknot, Slash, DevilDriver, Manowar, Dragonforce, TWO FREE CDs and much more!

They’re also headlining Download festival, which we’re all going to, right? Right.
