We've had some interesting supergroups this year like Palms and Scar the Martyr, but Teenage Time Killer is an entirely new breed… mainly because there are guest appearances from a slew of legendary musicians and only two core members. All I'm saying is that picture of Randall Blythe with Corrosion of Conformity comes into play …

Former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach joined SIN CITY SINNERS on stage this past Saturday, September 14 at Count’s Vamp’d Rock Bar & Grill in Las Vegas, Nevada to perform a number of classic rock tracks, including MÖTLEY CRÜE‘s “Live Wire”. Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.

After Bach revealed in a a three-word tweet to a fan on August 29 that he was asked to join MÖTLEY CRÜE more than two decades ago, CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx quickly retorted that Bach‘s version of events never happened. Sebastian then took to his Facebook page to describe in some detail the circumstances behind his being asked to join the CRÜE, which included taking part in a full day’s rehearsal with the band and a slew of phone calls between various managers, agents and label executives. “I was driven to rehearsal by Tommy Lee, and I spent a full day singing the MÖTLEY CRÜE set with the band MÖTLEY CRÜE,” Bach wrote. “I remember the songs that Nikki asked me to sing that day. I remember the whole road crew’s ecstatic reaction to us jamming together all day. And I remember Nikki‘s very generous, kind offer, at the end of our rehearsal, for me to join the band MÖTLEY CRÜE. I remember his exact words that he said to me in front of his whole road crew, Tommy and Mick [Mars] as well. It’s not every day that your hero asks you to join his band.”

Bach didn’t reveal the full details of what went down that day, promising his Facebook followers that he “will tell the complete story of Nikki offering me to join MÖTLEY CRÜE in my upcoming book, which will be arriving on bookshelves soon.”

He added: “I am not simply ‘making this up’… I am not a liar. I am working on my book right now and I look forward to you all reading it. I plan on my book having even more information in it than one of my tweets does.”

On Friday (September 13), Nikki tweeted what appeared to be a short response to Bach‘s online rant: “Someone needs attention to try and sell some books.” He then added: “I always liked the term ‘washed up.'”

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has apparently dismissed former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach‘s latest online missive as a ploy to get “attention to sell some books.”

Jeff Keller Management LLC, the management company for FLOTSAM AND JETSAM and HIRAX, has announced that due to circumstances beyond the bands’ and management’s control, the “Metal Apocalypse” European tour that was scheduled to feature both artists has been canceled.

Says Jeff Keller: “Unfortunately, it was in both bands’ best interest to not continue with the tour at this time. We apologize to the fans for this unfortunate circumstance, and I can assure the fans that both bands will be in Europe in 2014 for other touring and festival appearances.”

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM recently returned to Metal Blade Records to release their new album, “Ugly Noise”.

“Ugly Noise” is FLOTSAM AND JETSAM‘s eleventh full-length album, their first release on Metal Blade since 2001, and the follow-up to their 2010 album “The Cold”. The record also heralds the return of original members Michael Gilbert on guitar and Kelly David Smith, who hadn’t recorded with FLOTSAM AND JETSAM since “High” in 1997.

Funding for the new FLOTSAM AND JETSAM album was aided by the PledgeMusic.com project, which encourages fans to contribute funds to the recording of albums and the artists themselves to donate to charity as a part of their fundraising.

HIRAX will release its new album, “Immortal Legacy”, on October 22 (six days later in Europe) via SPV/Steamhammer. It will be made available as a CD, gatefold colored LP and a digital download.

Philip Lawvere, the artist behind such classic album covers as KREATOR‘s “Pleasure To Kill” and CELTIC FROST‘s “Emperor’s Return”, has designed the “Immortal Legacy” cover. Lawvere had done stunning illustrations for numerous albums and is best known for a slew of thrash metal offerings released on Noise Records.

Blackened thrashers Skeletonwitch are currently recording the follow up to 2011’s Forever Abomination with production wizard / Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou in his God City Studios. We checked in to see how it’s all coming along.

“Get ready for a slew of dumb puns about the ‘Witch recording in Salem, Massachusetts,” laughs bassist Evan Linger.  “For those that don’t know, in the 1690s Salem was the center of mass killings of young women suspected of witchcraft. That might sound “cool” and “metal” but now days it’s just a story that helps local shops sell kitschy items like tarot cards, incense and crystals.

“Half of the businesses in Salem are devoted to the history of the Salem witch trails. Tucked away from the campy tourist traps and cheesy souvenirs, in a nonchalant brick building, is God City Studios. If there is any magic happening anywhere in Salem it’s on a mixing desk and a 2-inch tape machine, not in a graveyard or wax museum. Kurt’s reputation as a musician and producer speaks for itself. That is why we chose him.”

“We like to keep things fresh,” adds guitarist Scott Hedrick. “We don’t want to ever become complacent, and we’ve wanted to work with Kurt for a while. His records sound fucking fantastic. High on Fire, Disfear, Torche, Trap Them, etc… The records he did for those bands speak for themselves.”

And what do the new songs sound like?

“We don’t relegate ourselves to one style,” says Scott. “If the song needs to be a little blacker, so be it. If it has more of a death metal feel, that’s fine. There’s a big difference between being able to write a song and just throwing ‘cool’ riffs together. This is the closest Nate and I have worked together since the Permafrost days, and the most material I have personally contributed since then.  My ass is on the line a little more than usual!”

“We’re incredibly happy with the songs, the sounds and the tones,” concludes Evan. “And most of all, we’re proud of that elusive grit and passion we were able to put on this record. Every time we go back in the studio we are a bit more seasoned and our craft is a bit more honed. This record is representative of that. We hope you all enjoy the songs as much as we have enjoyed writing, rehearsing and recording them.”

Sounds good to us, chaps. Looking forward to hearing it.
