Italian/Norwegian hard-industrial-electro extreme metallers ABORYM, who feature in ther ranks Fabban and Paolo Pieri (HOUR OF PENANCE) along with drummer Bård G. “Faust” Eithun (BLOOD TSUNAMI, MONGO NINJA, ex-EMPEROR), have inked a new deal with Agonia Records. Details on band’s seventh full-length album, the follow-up to 2013’s “Dirty”, are yet to be announced.

ABORYM is currently working on a new video for the song “Bleedthrough”, taken from “Dirty”. The clip is being directed by Andrea Malkavian and the Victorlab crew.

ABORYM‘s “Dirty” video can be seen below. Directed by Alberto Falcone, the clip features all three band members as well as actors, and, according to frontman and founder Fabban, the title of the track pretty much sums up the subject matter of the video.

ABORYM‘s sixth full-length album, “Dirty”, was released on May 28, 2013 in Europe and June 11, 2013 in North America via Agonia Records. The 10-track double album (cover below) was made available in digipak, jewel case and gatefold double LP formats.

“Dirty” was recorded at the Fear No One Studios in Italy with Emiliano Natali, reprising his sound engineer role from the band’s “Psychogrotesque” album, and was helmed by Marc Urselli of New York’s Eastside Sound Studio, who previously worked with the likes of Mike Patton and Lou Reed. The electronic part of the album was engineered by D. Loop (KEBABTRAUME, LIMBO). R.G. Narchost (STORMCROW, DEMON’S SHADE, DROWNING ASHES) created “The Spiral Shaped Chamber” custom sounds library for the band. Artwork for the album is by ABORYM‘s Fabban.

The first CD of the album features new material, while the second CD features two tracks from previous albums, which have been completely re-arranged and re-recorded, covers of tracks by IRON MAIDEN, PINK FLOYD and NINE INCH NAILS, and a previously unreleased track performed by both musicians such as Agonia BV, Tamara Picardo, Samuel Heru Ra Ha MK, Hostis, Ulven, Mike Bizzini, David Cholasta, Tobias Dünnebacke, Jonathan Butcher, Jessy Lavallee, Thomas Hochstetler, Mary J. Rooks, Amanda Neilson and Mark Llewellyn, as well as several fans. The song was written by Alberto Penzin (CO2, ex-SCHIZO) and was spliced together from all the different sources.

RockNLive.org recently conducted an interview with former PANTERA and current HELLYEAH drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott. You can now watch the chat below.

HELLYEAH‘s fourth studio album, “Blood For Blood”, will be released on June 10 via Eleven Seven Music. The CD was helmed by producer Kevin Churko at his The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada. Churko is the Canadian musician, sound engineer, songwriter and record producer who has previously worked with OZZY OSBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and IN THIS MOMENT, among other acts.

Prior to the recording of the new album, HELLYEAH parted ways with guitarist Greg Tribbett (MUDVAYNE) and bassist Bob “Zilla” Kakaha (DAMAGEPLAN). A replacement bassist in the shape of Kyle Sanders (former member of BLOODSIMPLE and the brother of MASTODON‘s Troy Sanders) has been secured.

Still in the lineup are original drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, guitarist Tom Maxwell and singer Chad Gray.

Speaking to RockNLive.org about Sanders‘ addition to HELLYEAH, Vinnie Paul said: “After we realized we were gonna have to part ways with Bob and Greg, we wanted to make sure that we brought somebody in that was a ‘bro,’ somebody that we felt comfortable with. We didn’t wanna go through an audition process and bring a whole bunch of different people in that we had no idea, anything about their character or dynamic or what they were all about. And Kyle had toured with HELLYEAH many times with his band BLOODSIMPLE, who we were all fans of. As a matter of fact, BLOODSIMPLE was on Chad‘s label when he had a label. And he was the first guy that came to our mind. And the first phone call we gave to him, we barely mentioned it and he said, ‘I’m the guy. I wanna do it. I wanna do it.’ And that’s all we needed to hear; that was perfect. So he’s gonna be a perfect addition to the band. We shot the videos together and we hung out, and he’s really into it. So it worked out perfect for us. And to complement Tom on guitar, these songs for this record really have a lot of duelling guitars and a lot of parts, we’re gonna add a touring guitarist. We haven’t announced who that is yet, but I can tell you he’s a hell of a guitar player. So we’ll do that soon. And the band’s gonna be stronger than ever. There’s nothing like having some fresh blood out on the road with you. And these guys are gonna kill, we’re gonna kill, and we’ve got a great new record to tour with.”

A press release describes “Blood For Blood” as a “welcome return to form” for the band, adding that it “sounds like a recharged HELLYEAH, taken up many notches.”

HELLYEAH will hit the road this spring, starting with several festival slots in April and May.

HELLYEAH was formed in 2006 by NOTHINGFACE guitarist Tom Maxwell and bassist Jerry Montano, MUDVAYNE singer Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett, and former PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott.

Montano left a week after the release of the band’s self-titled debut album in 2007 and was replaced by Bob “Zilla” Kakaha, who had played with Abbott in DAMAGEPLAN.

HELLYEAH‘s other albums include 2009’s “Stampede” and 2011’s “Band Of Brothers”.

MUDVAYNE has not released an album since 2009 while Gray and Tribbett have been working with HELLYEAH.

Finnish melodic death metallers INSOMNIUM have released the first song, “Ephemeral”, off their forthcoming album, to be released in 2014 via Century Media Records. The first track to feature new guitarist Markus Vanhala (also in OMNIUM GATHERUM), who replaced Ville Vänni in 2011, “Ephemeral” will be made available digitally in Europe on September 23 and will be accompanied by three bonus tracks — acoustic songs that can be heard in the background of the recently released INSOMNIUM documentary.

Comments the band: “After the success of our last single, ‘Weather The Storm’, we decided that it would be a good idea to record some new material this summer before releasing the actual new full-length album. This was also a good opportunity to explore different studios and work with different people. Just to explore our sound a bit more in terms of production.

“And here we are finally; happy to introduce you our new single, ‘Ephemeral’.

“The drums recorded by Kimmo Perkkiö at SF Sound (Finland). Everything else recorded by Teemu Aalto at Korkeakoski Studios, Kotka (Finland). The song was mixed and mastered by André Alvinzi and Jens Bogren, respectively, at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden.

“It was nice challenge to work on the instrumental side of INSOMNIUM and come up with music that has more cinematic edge to it. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.”

INSOMNIUM‘s latest album, “One For Sorrow”, was released in October 2011 in North America via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded in Gothenburg, Sweden with sound engineer Daniel Antonsson (also bassist in DARK TRANQUILLITY and guitarist in DIMENSION ZERO) and at Fantom studios in Tempere, Finland, where the album was also mixed by Samu Oittisen.

INSOMNIUM in 2011 parted ways with guitarist Ville Vänni and replaced him with Markus Vanhala (OMNIUM GATHERUM).

RockNLive.org recently conducted an interview with Swiss hard rock veterans KROKUS. You can now watch the chat below.

“Dirty Dynamite”, the 17th studio album from KROKUS, entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 17. This marks the first time in KROKUS‘ history that the band has landed in the Top 20 of the German chart.

“Dirty Dynamite” was released on February 22 in Europe via Sony Music and in North America on March 5 via The End Records. The CD marks the return of KROKUS guitarist Mandy Meyer after 30 years. Sound engineer for the recording sessions was again Dennis Ward, who also recorded the band’s last album, “Hoodoo”.

Drummer Freddy Steady left KROKUS in May 2011 because he “concluded that he really wanted to play music just for fun in small clubs rather than conquering the world, playing arenas on huge stages with pyro props, etc.,” according to guitarist Fernando Von Arb.

KROKUS recently recruited Flavio Mezzodi as the band’s new drummer.

KROKUS“Dög Song” video can be seen below. The clip focuses on the band’s the new mascot, the English Bulldog Da Dög, who is pictured on cover of KROKUS‘ latest album, “Dirty Dynamite”.

Metal-Trails.com recently conducted an interview with HELLYEAH guitarist Tom Maxwell. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below.

As previously reported, HELLYEAH has tapped producer Kevin Churko to helm the band’s fourth studio album, tentatively due in early 2014. Churko is the Canadian musician, sound engineer, songwriter and record producer who has previously worked with OZZY OSBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and IN THIS MOMENT, among other acts.

The recording sessions for the new HELLYEAH CD will take place this fall at Churko‘s The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada.

HELLYEAH‘s first three albums were laid down in Dallas, Texas at drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott‘s home studio, VP’s Upstairs Studio.

Speaking to the 93X radio station at this year’s Rock Fest in Cadott, Wisconsin, Vinnie Paul stated about HELLYEAH‘s plans for the next CD: “We’ve done the past three HELLYEAH records [at my home studio in Dallas], but this [next] record, we really wanna go to another level with our music, and we’re working with Kevin Churko, who’s produced Ozzy and FIVE FINGER and IN THIS MOMENT and all that. We’re actually recording that in Vegas right down the street from my house in Vegas, so it’s almost gonna be as convenient as doing the Texas one.”

He added: “We’re already writing [material for the next album]. This tour [Gigantour] goes until August 20 and as soon as we’re done, we go right into the studio with Kevin and we should have a record out probably early next year.”

HELLYEAH took part in this year’s edition of Gigantour, the critically acclaimed package festival founded in 2005 by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine. Also appearing on the bill were headliners MEGADETH, along with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, DEVICE, NEWSTED and DEATH DIVISION.

HELLYEAH‘s third album, “Band Of Brothers”, sold 19,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 19 on The Billboard 200 chart.
