Lemmy: setting sail

Motörhead have joined in the floating festival craze, and in their inaugural stab at it, they’ve smashed it.

It was revealed last month that the first ever Motörboat would be setting sail later this year, and it’s now been confirmed that the cruise will take place from September 22-26, and is boasting some amazing names.

Megadeth, Zakk Wylde, Anthrax and Motörhead themselves are all confirmed for the lineup, as well as some pretty sweet smaller names, with plenty more set to be announced.

More awesome new music coming your way this week!

After an immense London Scala show and a mixed reception at Reading soon after, it’s time to let the music do the talking. Nine Inch Nails release their new album Hesitation Marks today, although with the album streaming in full last week, a lot of you will have perhaps already formed opinions on the first new NIN album since 2008′s The Slip. Nonetheless, it represents a brand new start for an outfit which Trent once said were gone for good, so where he takes the band from here on in is anyone’s guess.

In a whole different world comes the new album from Finnish battle metal warriors, Turisas. The curiously-named Turisas2013 is evidently a stab at a bold new direction for the band, but fear not – there’s still plenty of gung ho lyricism, soaring, galloping melodies and big hooks.

If running around waving swords about isn’t your think, you might be interested in Turisas’ Century Media labelmates and djent innovators, The Safety Fire. The techy Londoners’ second album, Mouth Of Swords, will look to follow in the footsteps of 2012′s critically-acclaimed Grind The Ocean.

Finally, there’s also a long-awaited new album from Vista Chino – AKA The Artists Formerly Known As Kyuss Lives! – AKA The Artists Formerly Known As Kyuss. Can Garcia’s crew live up to the legacy of those timeless, genre-defining classics? This week, the world will find out…

What new release are you most pumped about this week? Let us know.

The Defiled: throwing down aboard HMS Hammer at our Golden Gods in June

London industrial metallers The Defiled have revealed the cover art for new album Daggers!

“Daggers were made for only one thing – killing or betraying your fellow man,” explains Defiled keyboardist The AvD of the album art’s concept. “And one stab is almost always never enough…

“The flowers symbolise goodwill with the prospect of a co-operative future. The dagger behind the back symbolizes the ulterior motives, the insincerity and the impending disappointment that surrounds us all. This theme runs through all the tracks on the album.

“The concept was born out of a scene we wanted in our new video for Unspoken. We wanted the two main characters shaking hands with daggers behind their backs. We were originally going to call the track Daggers but then opted to go for Unspoken. The song is about the politics of life and it seemed more fitting. We also didn’t want to limit the word “Daggers” to only one song on the album, as it is the overall feeling we wanted for the full project.”

Daggers is released August 5 via Nuclear Blast. The Defiled play The HMS Hammer boat party at the 2013 Golden Gods in June.

Dutch band Herder has posted the song “Feet Eager To Run To Evil” online, which is taken from the upcoming “Horror Vacui” 12″ to be released on Reflections Records on November 13th, 2012. The song can be heard below, and pre-orders are available online at this location. Reflections Records also comments:

“The possible survivors of the smoldering crater that the Herder debut album left after impact, are now completely finished off with a furious death stab to the neck. No mercy, no positivity, no sobriety. Only the strong will be left standing, the rest will have their throats ripped out.

“Filth ridden bass, crushing triple guitars, thunderous hammering drums and genuinely pissed off vocals lay down the soundtrack for prison shanking, bar brawls, heavy smoking and lizard night drives at high speed! Lock up your wives, daughters, and well, your dogs too just to be sure. ‘Horror Vacui’ is the new weapon against human morale and it fucking destroys! FOAD – HERDER IS HARDER!”
