Arven will release new album “Black Is The Colour” this coming August 23rd, 2013 via Massacre Records. The band has now checked in with the following announcement about a guest appearance: “We are proud to announce that Stefan Schmidt of Van Canto performs as a guest vocalist on the new Arven-Album ‘Black Is The Colour!’ There will be a blistering duet along with Carina on the song ‘The One For Me!’ Beside that, Stefan is part of our true little Choir on the album

Dark Sarah, the new project by former Amberian Dawn vocalist Heidi Parviainen, posted a preview clip of the band’s upcoming single and music video for the track “Save Me.” The project will see the appearance of guest musicians such as guitarist Kasperi Heikkinen (Conquest/Mergin Flare/Ex-Amberian Dawn and now U.D.O. ), bassist Jukka Koskinen (Wintersun/Cain’s Offering/Amberian Dawn) and Inga Scharf and Stefan Schmidt of Van Canto.

German modern power metal act Heavatar, the new project from Van Canto mastermind Stefan Schmidt and Ex-Stratovarius drummer Jorg Michael, posted a track-by-track trailer video for the band’s debut LP “Opus I – All My Kingdoms” on February 22, 2013 through Napalm Records. In the video, Schmidt discusses each song on the release. Check out the video here:

German modern power metal act Heavatar, the new project from Van Canto mastermind Stefan Schmidt, is set to release the debut LP “Opus I – All My Kingdoms” on February 22, 2013 through Napalm Records.

With Heavatar, Schmidt exchanges the “A Cappella” style, manning the rhythm guitar as well as lead vocals. Supporting him is Ex-Stratovarius drummer Jörg Michael,  and Ex-Fading Starlight guitarist Sebastian Scharf.

According to the press release: “[e]ach song borrows – some more, some less – a motif from classical composers – ranging from Bach to Paganini and Beethoven. The epic songs are filled with mighty choirs, which are performed by members of the “Blind Guarding” choir-team and of course, Stefan’s friends in Van Canto. The artwork was created by the renowned fantasy artist Kerem Beyit. ‘All My Kingdoms’ is a celebration for Power Metal fans, who love catchy refrains, epic choirs, classic tunes, heavy riffs and thundering double-bass. The debut will also take supports of different genres by storm – to the Metal!”

Arven will be releasing the band’s debut album “Music of Light” on September 30th, 2011. You can check out the previously revealed artwork courtesy of Jan Yrlund by heading over here.

“Music of Light” was recorded by Kai Bender except for vocals, drums, piano recorded by Tobias Paldauf at Zentralstudio Mainz and choirs recorded by Stefan Schmidt (Van Canto). Mixing was handled by Kai Bender and the album was mastered by Sascha Päth and Michael Rodenberg at Gate Studios

Arven has now also revealed the following guest musicians appearing on the album:
