Austria’s Stormbringer.at webzine conducted an interview with Brant Bjork of VISTA CHINO, the group comprised of two founding members of the legendary rock band KYUSSBjork and John Garcia — and guitarist Bruno Fevery. The chat, which took place on July 29 in Vienna, Austria, can be seen below.

VISTA CHINO‘s debut album, “Peace”, will be released on September 3 (one day earlier internationally) via Napalm Records. The cover artwork for the CD was created by the renowned California art collective The Date Farmers.

Commented Bjork: “The Date Farmers are native to the desert where we are from. It is an honor to work together with such prolific artists!”

“Peace” track listing:

01. Good Morning Wasteland
02. Dargona Dragona
03. Sweet Remain
04. As You Wish
05. Planets 1 & 2
06. Adara
07. Mas Vino
08. Dark and Lovely
09. Barcelonian
10. Acidize – The Gambling Moose

VISTA CHINO tapped Mike Dean (CORROSION OF CONFORMITY) to play bass on the band’s European tour.

Dean handled bass duties for VISTA CHINO at their first North American performance, which took place at this year’s Orion Music + More festival — curated by METALLICA — in Detroit, Michigan.

The final live appearances of KYUSS LIVES! — featuring the same lineup as VISTA CHINO — took place in early 2013 as part of Australia’s Soundwave Festival.

KYUSS LIVES! decided to change its name after a lawsuit launched by former KYUSS members Josh Homme and Scott Reeder prevented KYUSS LIVES! from recording and releasing any new material.

Commented Garcia: “KYUSS LIVES! is now VISTA CHINO!…it feels great just to write that….and to say it out loud, feels even better. Now that our relationship with Napalm Records is official; it’s time to forget about the past year, move forward, and execute our original plan, which was to make kick-ass music and tour the world!”

Speaking to Music Feeds, Brant was asked whether there was a slight sense of relief that the legal dispute over the KYUSS name is over. “Absolutely,” he replied. “There’s always relief when conflict is resolved and people can just let go and move forward. That’s where we’re at and we feel great. It’s always unfortunate to experience differences with specific people, but we feel great as a band. We’re really, really excited to move forward into the future and focus on what it is that we do, which is play music.”

Regarding whether the change of band’s name to VISTA CHINO would have happened had it not been for the lawsuit, Brant said: “That’s a good question. The answer to that question is: I don’t know. Possibly. We didn’t really think about it. We were really just looking at what was in front of us and making our decisions based on what our present situation was. But now we just came to a point where we felt that changing the name was appropriate and was the fastest way for us to get back to playing music.”

Austria’s Stormbringer.at conducted an interview with vocalist Dez Fafara of Californian metallers DEVILDRIVER on August 5 in Vienna, Austria. You can now watch the chat below.

DEVILDRIVER‘s sixth album, “Winter Kills”, will be released on August 27 via Napalm Records. The instrumental parts for the CD were recorded at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida while the vocals were laid down at Dez Fafara‘s home studio, with Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WHITECHAPEL, ALL THAT REMAINS) handling production duties. The album’s cover artwork features a photograph by Dean Karr. The layout was done by Ryan Clark of Invisible Creature.

“Winter Kills” will be made available in four configurations, including a deluxe digibook with CD (including two bonus tracks, “Shudder” and “Back Down To The Grave”) and live DVD (featuring 45 minutes of live raw DEVILDRIVER power — no studio overdubs at all, just the band at their best — and including fan favorites “Clouds Over California” and “The Wretched”), standard CD version, digital version and, for the first time in DEVILDRIVER history, a 2LP gatefold edition.

“Winter Kills” is now available for pre-order on iTunes. Pre-ordering the album entitles you to an instant grat track download of “Ruthless”.

Exclusive pre-order bundle packages for “Winter Kills” are now available at IndieMerch.com. These bundle packages include designs and items that are unavailable anywhere else.

“Winter Kills” track listing:

01. The Oath
02. Ruthless
03. Desperate Times
04. Winter Kills
05. The Appetite
06. Gutted
07. Curses And Epitaph’s
08. Caring’s Overkill
09. Hunting Refrain
10. Tripping Over Tombstones
11. Sail
12. Shudder (deluxe-digibook bonus track)
13. Back Down To The Grave (deluxe-digibook bonus track)

“The Appetite” video can be seen below. The clip was directed by Dan Burke of PianoFight Films.

DEVILDRIVER previously worked with Lewis on 2011’s “Beast” and 2007’s “The Last Kind Words”.

Comments Fafara: “This is by far DEVILDRIVER‘s most cohesive, powerful, groove-laden record to date! We delivered our signature California groove sound alongside a raw and biting guitar tone, mixed it with massive hooks, added in thunderous drums to rethink, and reshape another different sounding unique piece of rock and roll!

“Cutting our own path is something to be proud of.

DEVILDRIVER has always and will forever be about thinking outside the box and delivering on something different from record to record. We cannot be assimilated into any scene or even genre of metal, and we will continue to do things our own way with a massive middle finger in the air to the status quo!”

Austria’s Stormbringer.at recently conducted an interview with AVENGED SEVENFOLD singer M. Shadows and bassist Johnny Christ. You can now watch the chat below.

As previously reported, AVENGED SEVENFOLD is teaming up with online entertainment site Machinima to bring fans brand new original content in the form of a six-episode animated series that will tell the fictional story of the Death Bat, the band’s longtime trademark and mascot. Directed by “Metalocalypse” producer Jon Schnepp, the series will air this fall on Machinima‘s HappyHour channel and will feature music from AVENGED SEVENFOLD‘s new album, “Hail To The King”, which is set to arrive on August 27.

Lead singer M. Shadows revealed that the series will go “hand-in-hand” with a new mobile AVENGED SEVENFOLD game that the band has been developing for 18 months. He explained, “Without revealing too much, I will just say that it is an action-adventure game. It has been written and developed by the band and with our friends in Subscience Studios. It’s turning out awesome. We can’t wait to show you more when it’s ready . . . The game and the series will go hand in hand with each other. We hope you enjoy them both, because I know we have had a great time developing them.”

“Hail To The King” is AVENGED SEVENFOLD‘s follow-up to 2010’s chart-topping “Nightmare” and the first album by the band to feature no musical contributions from late drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan.

Sullivan, who died in December 2009, did write some of the music that ended up on “Nightmare”. The Pulse Of Radio asked Shadows if his presence was missed on the new disc. “Obviously, you totally miss, like, what he would have brought to the table,” he said. “Like, I’m a hundred percent happy with these songs, but I know he would have had a couple of ideas of cool things to do. Also, he always brings three to four great songs. So on this process when you get to like song six or seven, you’re like, ‘Damn, I really wish we were at song 10, ’cause I’m really happy with these seven songs and Jimmy would have brought three in.’ So that was the big thing, it was just that it took us a lot longer to get where we wanted to get.”

AVENGED SEVENFOLD has also continued its relationship with game publisher Activision by contributing a song to the final pack of downloadable content for the wildly successful game Call Of Duty: Black Ops II.

The final content pack, called Apocalypse, will be available on the Xbox Live online entertainment network from Microsoft on August 27 and contains a new AVENGED track called “Shepherd Of Fire”.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD will begin a fall headlining North American tour on October 3 in Chicago, concluding on October 26 in Las Vegas. Support on the road trip will come from DEFTONES and GHOST.
