AEROSMITH has canceled its two previously scheduled festival gigs in the Far East — Wednesday, August 21 in Shanghai and Saturday, August 24 in Taipei — due to the local promoters’ failure to “meet contractual obligations.”

AEROSMITH was supposed to make its Chinese live debut at the outdoor Shanghai Hongkou Stadium. The venue has a capacity of 25,000 people.

“We are extremely upset to have disappointed our dedicated fans,” says AEROSMITH singer Steven Tyler in a statement. “They have welcomed us into their country, and due to uncontrollable circumstances, we will not be able to perform. We were so excited to share our music with them and look forward to one day returning and giving them the show they deserve.”

“We’re disappointed as we wanted to play for our fans,” added AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry. “We’ve looked forward to this for a lifetime.”

“It’s always been a dream of ours to play in Shanghai and Taipei, and meet our fans there,” said AEROSMITH bassist Tom Hamilton says. “We were really looking forward to visiting Shanghai and Taipei and playing for our fans there and are very disappointed that these two shows have been cancelled.”

“I’m disappointed we weren’t able to play for our fans in China. However, the circumstances were beyond our control,” stated AEROSMITH drummer Joey Kramer. “I sincerely hope AEROSMITH will get another opportunity to come back to Shanghai and Taiwan to play for our many fans there.”

Back in May, AEROSMITH a concert in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta due to reports of a bomb threat at the Myanmar Embassy.

AEROSMITH‘s latest album, “Music From Another Dimension!”, was released on November 6, 2012, and debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 chart, selling 63,000 copies in its first week of release.

Leaves’ Eyes and Atrocity will be heading to China and Taiwan this July for a series of live shows. A teaser trailer for the run has been posted online and can be viewed below. Liv Kristine commented:

Coprocephalic, the brutal slamming death metal band whose members hail from California and Taipei, is streaming a promo for its upcoming album. X JAPAN, one of the most successful rock bands in Asia, having sold in excess of 30-million albums, wrapped its five-stop tour of South East Asia last month with SRO shows in Seoul, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei and Bangkok that drew some 50,000 fans, many of whom had waited their entire lives to see X JAPAN live in concert.

GUNS N’ ROSES kicked off its first tour in three years earlier tonight Friday (December 11) in Taiwan, marking the band’s first gigs in support of its 2008 CD, “Chinese Democracy”.

TMZ.com has uploaded video footage (see below) of GUNS N’ ROSES frontman allegedly attacking a a paparazzi at at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Wednesday night while waiting to board a flight to Taipei to start the band’s tour that will take them through Asia this month with Canada and South America to follow next year.
