The official lyric video for the song “The Infinity Of Time And Space” from Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON can be seen below. The track comes off the band’s new, self-titled album, which sold around 1,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release. This is roughly in line with the opening-week performance of the band’s previous CD, “The Age of Nero”, which premiered with 1,700 units back in November 2008.

“Satyricon” debuted at position No. 1 on the official chart in the band’s home country — the first time one of the group’s releases has topped the chart in Norway. “Satyricon” has also seen success internationally, debuting at No. 6 in Finland, No. 23 in Germany and No. 26 in Austria. By comparison, SATYRICON‘s previous studio album, “2008’a “The Age Of Nero”, entered the chart at No. 5 in Norway and No. 73 in Germany.

Comments SATYRICON vocalist Sigurd “Satyr” Wongraven: “SATYRICON fans have shown that there is still room for authentic music with an analog sound. They have shown it to the degree that it has given us formidable chart positions in very competitive European markets and in Norway a Number 1 record. It is the most important record that we have done and now our fans are clearly sending out a very strong message by getting behind it. We are very thankful and proud.”

“Satyricon” was recorded in Norway between January and May 2013 and was produced by Satyr. Mixing took place in Seattle by Adam Kasper and Satyr.

Speaking to Noisecreep at this year’s Inferno festival, Satyr stated about SATYRICON‘s new album: “To me, it sounds very authentic, it’s organic-sounding. And in this digital age where music is mostly played through computers, a lot of that analog vibe gets lost in translation when you play music through medias like that, but I still wanna do it because there’s nothing quite like it. To me, it just makes everything sound the way it’s supposed to sound — it’s dynamical; the music is alive, it’s not overly compressed, the levels are not pushed. So, musically speaking, it’s a very atmospheric record… This record is full of life. There are a lot of surprises here, but I think it’s gonna be a record that’s gonna help the black metal movement perhaps find a new way for the future.”

Comments Satyr: “We are back! Sorry it took so long, but we needed the time to be able pull off a record like this.

“Comparing this one to previous records is time wasted, it is SATYRICON; constantly on the move.

“Naming this record ‘Satyricon’ was the most obvious thing in the world. We have never done a record which captures the spirit of this band in such a way. Ever. It will demand a lot from you as a listener, but I know you will love it. It will grow on you and that is why it will stay with you forever.

“We won’t tour as much in the future as we used to, and that will just make every tour more special. This album and this tour is for you and ourselves. It is our moment!”

Speaking to AOL‘s Noisecreep at this year’s Inferno festival, Satyr stated about SATYRICON‘s new album: “To me, it sounds very authentic, it’s organic-sounding. Washington D.C. metallers DARKEST HOUR recently completed a successful North American tour supporting KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, and wasted no time getting back to work. Upon returning home, the band immediately headed to Oceanic Studios to begin pre-production with producer Taylor Larson.

Comments DARKEST HOUR guitarist Michael Schleibaum: “When John Henry [vocals] and I started the band some 18 years ago, we could have never imagined the sound would travel this far.

“The making of this record (dating back to January of 2012) was both a painful and joyful one and the end result has become something truly transcendent.

John’s work with Taylor on the new demos has proven to be the best he’s ever sounded and the introduction of the creative minds of both Travis Orbin (drums) and Aaron Deal (bass) have taken the songwriting someplace otherworldly.

“You can expect a massive evolution.

“The [recent] KILLSWITCH [ENGAGE] tour couldn’t have come at a better time for us creatively. It gave us the time and space to think about the album as a whole and really craft something special.”

Adds John Henry: “To say that writing with Travis has been a metamorphosis is an understatement. His playing style and influence has soaked itself into the soul of the band. His perspective has brought new life into both our writing process and way of thinking.

Taylor has fresh ears and new eyes on both production and the way people hear music.

“We’ve recorded with some amazing producers (Brian Mcternan, Fredrik Nordström, Devin Townsend, Peter Wichers) who all in one way or another brought their own spin to the band’s sound. However, with these new demos, we hear the potential for a new sonic overhaul and can’t wait to dig in and track these final takes.”

DARKEST HOUR‘s new album will be released in early 2014 via Sumerian Records.

The band’s sixth CD, “The Human Romance”, sold around 3,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 185 on The Billboard 200 chart. The effort landed at position No. 3 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

Legendary Norwegian progressive black/viking metal band Enslaved have inked a worldwide contract with Nuclear Blast Records. The band’s 2008 release “Vertebrae” and 2010 release “Axioma Ethica Odini” were previously released in North America via the label, while in Europe the releases came via Indie Recordings. The band is expected to have a new release this fall.

Enslaved commented on the signing:

We’re very, very (yes, very) pleased and proud to sign this deal with Nuclear Blast worldwide. We’ve already worked with Nuclear Blast US through our two latest albums; and our personal friendships with NB guys and gals on both sides of the Atlantic are even older. There’s no drama – we take great pride in the fact that there seldom is with us – it is simply a matter of one contract ending, and us going for what seems to be our best option at this point in time and space. This time the best choice for Enslaved is changing things up somewhat. We’re excited to see what the mixture of passion and professionalism at Nuclear Blast can do with the Enslaved name in the years to come. There is no doubt that the level of ambition, the experience and seriousness about what we do, form perfect common ground for Enslaved and Nuclear Blast. We’re in the process of making a new album that will initiate our new partnership, watch out for the approaching wave of news about that. For now, let’s just say that the album will be an absolute (Nuclear) blast!

Gerardo Martínez of Nuclear Blast USA, commented:

Enslaved is one of the most amazing bands to ever come from Norway. We’ve had the pleasure of working with them on their last two albums in North America, and from this day forth worldwide. Looking forward their new masterpiece to be unleashed to the masses later in the year!

Dutch symphonic metal band Delain announced that guitarist Timo Somers will sit out the band’s upcoming European tour due to other obligations. The band recruited former After Forever guitarist Bas Maas as a guest for the tour.

The band posted the following update about the situation:

Recently there have been some developments at the guitar department of Delain. Our band demands a huge amount of time and energy from our band members. Since our guitar player Timo has a lot of musical activities besides Delain, we want to give him the time and space to pursue this as well. Until now that was not possible, but recently we received a huge reinforcement in the band. Guitarist Bas Maas is joining in our group to relief Timo for some shows this year. Some of you may know Bas from Doro or his previous band After Forever. We want to give Bas a warm welcome in Delain. He will join us at our European tour, and a couple shows this spring. See you all on the road!

The band begins the tour for the forthcoming new LP “We Are the Others” on April 26, 2012 in Hamburg, Germany with Trillium and Halcyon Way. For more information head over to this location.
