The official lyric video for the song “The Infinity Of Time And Space” from Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON can be seen below. The track comes off the band’s new, self-titled album, which sold around 1,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release. This is roughly in line with the opening-week performance of the band’s previous CD, “The Age of Nero”, which premiered with 1,700 units back in November 2008.

“Satyricon” debuted at position No. 1 on the official chart in the band’s home country — the first time one of the group’s releases has topped the chart in Norway. “Satyricon” has also seen success internationally, debuting at No. 6 in Finland, No. 23 in Germany and No. 26 in Austria. By comparison, SATYRICON‘s previous studio album, “2008′a “The Age Of Nero”, entered the chart at No. 5 in Norway and No. 73 in Germany.

Comments SATYRICON vocalist Sigurd “Satyr” Wongraven: “SATYRICON fans have shown that there is still room for authentic music with an analog sound. They have shown it to the degree that it has given us formidable chart positions in very competitive European markets and in Norway a Number 1 record. It is the most important record that we have done and now our fans are clearly sending out a very strong message by getting behind it. We are very thankful and proud.”

“Satyricon” was recorded in Norway between January and May 2013 and was produced by Satyr. Mixing took place in Seattle by Adam Kasper and Satyr.

Speaking to Noisecreep at this year’s Inferno festival, Satyr stated about SATYRICON‘s new album: “To me, it sounds very authentic, it’s organic-sounding. And in this digital age where music is mostly played through computers, a lot of that analog vibe gets lost in translation when you play music through medias like that, but I still wanna do it because there’s nothing quite like it. To me, it just makes everything sound the way it’s supposed to sound — it’s dynamical; the music is alive, it’s not overly compressed, the levels are not pushed. So, musically speaking, it’s a very atmospheric record… This record is full of life. There are a lot of surprises here, but I think it’s gonna be a record that’s gonna help the black metal movement perhaps find a new way for the future.”

We're moving one hour later for our winter schedule so that Sid can't miss out on his Sunday football. Sid needs his football. It's basically all he has in his life (other than his wife and this show, and perhaps some Cheetos). We are working on getting a special guest in the studio, hopefully that …

German power metallers RUNNING WILD will release their new album, “Resilient”, on October 4 in Germany and October 7 in the rest of Europe via Steamhammer/SPV.

An audio snippet of the song “Bloody Island can be streamed in the YouTUbeRUNNING WILD mainman Rolf “Rock’n'Rolf” Kasparek has come up with twelve storm-proof numbers, ten of which are scheduled for release on the regular CD. Two bonus tracks and a poster will be included on the limited version of the album.

Kasparek was working full throttle on this new album since February 2013. Due to his intense involvement with GIANT X, his band with guitarist Peter Jordan, Rolf had consciously taken a break from RUNNING WILD and has now resumed work with the band with zest and lots of new ideas.

“The break was important and extremely refreshing for me,” he explains. “I felt that renewed vigor as soon as I started writing the material for ‘Resilient’, tracks such as ‘Fireheart’ and ‘Soldiers Of Fortune’ just came pouring out of me. The dynamic pace of ‘Soldiers Of Fortune’ in particular kicked off a whole avalanche of creativity in me.”

Rolf explains that “Resilient” is audibly tougher and more compact than its predecessor, “Shadowmaker”, clearly enjoying his revived zest. “‘Shadowmaker’ happened to come about slightly unexpectedly and spontaneously, even for me,” he says. “The album has brought back the fun I used to have with RUNNING WILD, and my fans will get to feel this fun when ‘Resilient’ comes out in October!”

The album’s opener, “Soldiers Of Fortune”, and the title track, “The Drift” and “Run Riot” will be three typical RUNNING WILD numbers. The most outstanding song on the album, however, is called “Bloody Island”, with almost ten minutes playing time one of the longest tracks in RUNNING WILD‘s career to date. Rolf says: “As a composer, it’s, of course, difficult for me to pigeonhole the new material stylistically, but friends who have heard the demo version of ‘Bloody Island’ claim that it would have fitted in on ‘Pile Of Skulls’.”

In terms of lyrics, there are the familiar fusillades that we’ve come to expect from RUNNING WILD: “Bloody Island” and the bonus track “Payola & Shenanigans” see Rock’n'Rolf criticize the curse of greed that we’ve seen specifically in the European banking crisis of recent years. “Crystal Gold” is about the obviously politically motivated privatization of drinking water, and “Fireheart” and “Run Riot” are warnings to RUNNING WILD‘s fans to be confident of themselves and vigilant towards authorities. Rolf says: “For me, that’s the attitude which stands for that true rock’n'roll feeling.”

“Resilient” was produced by Rock’n'Rolf himself, supported by Niki Nowy during the mixing and mastering process, as well as Katharina Nowy and Peter Jordan, who contributed a number of guitar solos. For the first time, Rolf worked with precise vocal lines during the demo recordings.

“The targeted use of lyrics and vocal melodies during the demo stage was new for me, but it worked out really well and I’ve never gone to the studio as well prepared as I did this time around,” he says. “I didn’t have to try and test things but only had to put a few finishing touches to my singing at the studio. A definite advantage!”

As to whether RUNNING WILD will present this brilliant album live on stage. Rolf says: “We’ve had a lot of festival offers for summer 2014, which we will look at carefully. We’ll know more in a few months’ time and will inform our fans as soon as we’ve made up our minds.”

“Paralysis”, a brand new track from Italian folk metallers KRAMPUS, can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below. The track was produced by Tommy Vetterli (ELUVEITIE, CORONER) and features guest musicians Merlin Sutter and Chrigel Glanzmann of ELUVEITIE on drums and uilleann pipes.

KRAMPUS found its own sound with the new material, mixing modern influences and keeping its unique folk instrumentation alive at the same time — one of only a handful of bands successful in doing so. Not only are they out to upend a whole genre, but they’re taking on old conventions as well. Rather than jumping through hoops to get the necessary financing for a full album production and risking limitations and deadlines, they picked the best of a year’s worth of writing and went on to produce those songs on their own — completely independent from any record label. Taking it another step further, KRAMPUS decided to release their new material to the public just weeks after recording — for free.

Comments the band: “We are extremely excited to share with you ‘Paralysis’, the very first brand new KRAMPUS track, produced with Tommy Vetterli at New Sound Studio just weeks ago and now available to you, for free. We hope you enjoy it and encourage you to play, download, and share however much you like!”

Rick Jimenez of Long Island act This is Hell has checked in with a European road report through PropertyofZack.com. An excerpt from the tour blog follows:

One of the few things weirder than mainland Europe is the eastern part of mainland Europe… Even the Westwrn part of Eastern Europe. With that said it was nice to get to Austria. We needed to get some supplies and allergy medicine and such before the show so we drove into the city of Vienna and searched for an hour until our UK friend Jamie that’s been filming for a new music video this tour remembered it was some Euro holiday and that’s why everything was closed. How helpful.

Headed to “the arena” to load in, eat Euro rider stuff and get in a sufficient but not preferred workout. Preshow playlist was awesome. The set started off slow and wound up being insane. Best of the 4 times we’ve been to the arena. I think we did 3 encores because they wouldn’t let us off stage. Fuck it I’ll play for as long as people wanna hear shit any goddamn day, I’m not afraid to overdue it. Towards the end each of the rhino guys as well as Jamie the videographer and Dave the driver got caught in a mosh. Wrote some cool shit on the wall next to my bunk for the night and finally got a fucking shower.

Made a stop at Rattlesnake (a local merch store in Vienna) and got a sick Venom patch for €0. Fuck yes. The drive to Vincenza, Italy was way longer than we thought and there were 138 stairs to load in. The sound on stage had made as much sense as a George Bush in the White House. The power for the entire stage was run by a surge protector located logically right by the edge of the mosh, so twice during the set the power went off mid thrash. There were some us troops stationed in the area that came out and they pitted and had a good time. One of the best parts of playing music is the opportunity to bring some leisure ad enjoyment into soldiers lives, especially ones stationed abroad. That’s a rough life and any comfort/enjoyment we can give to them is unbelievably rewarding. Whether you’re pro or anti war, many troops join the service not because they wanna “Get I’m!” but because it’s their way of getting by and making their way for their family. Politics aside, I will always be honored to support a troop because they are a HUMAN in a difficult situation. We ended our set regular time even though the crowd wanted more because someone at the venue started crying about something besides my guitar… Which he cried about before we started playing. Wah Rick is too loud. Get with it, I’m almost always too loud.
