“Going To Hell”, the second album from THE PRETTY RECKLESS, the band led by actress-turned-singer Taylor Momsen, is likely to sell between 30,000 and 35,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to industry web site Hits Daily Double. The estimate was based on one-day sales reports compiled after the record arrived in stores on March 18 via Razor & Tie. The chart will be unveiled on Wednesday, March 26.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, THE PRETTY RECKLESS has become the second female-fronted act in the last three years to hit No. 1 on the rock radio chart. The band’s new single, “Heaven Knows”, hit the top of the survey last week, allowing THE PRETTY RECKLESS to join the Lzzy Hale-fronted HALESTORM as part of a small and very select list of chart-topping rock acts fronted by women.

“Going To Hell” follows up THE PRETTY RECKLESS‘ 2010 debut full-length, “Light Me Up”, as well as a 2012 EP called “Hit Me Like A Man”.

Momsen began her career as an actress when she was a child before becoming a full-time musician years later. She told The Pulse Of Radio that her family always knew this was what she really wanted to do. “They knew that music was always where I was headed, and what my — that was my passion and my goal,” she said. “I mean, acting was a day job, essentially, while I worked on writing a record’s worth of material that I wanted people to hear, and finding the right people to work with and the right band and all that. So they weren’t surprised when I jumped ship.”

The video for “Heaven Knows”, in which Momsen appears semi-nude, has gotten more than 2.7 million views on VEVO.

THE PRETTY RECKLESS is currently supporting FALL OUT BOY on tour in Europe and will return to the U.S. next month for an appearance at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards on April 23 in Los Angeles.

The band is also confirmed to perform at all of the major U.S. rock festivals, including Rock On the Range, Rocklahoma, Fort Rock, Welcome To Rockville, Rock Fest Kansas City and others.

On March 10, Rustyn Rose of Metalholic.com conducted an interview with vocalist Johannes Michael Gustaf Eckerström of Swedish metallers AVATAR. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below.

AVATAR will release its new album, “Hail The Apocalypse”, on May 16 via Gain Music in Europe and May 13 through eOne in USA. The CD was recorded in Karma Sound Studios, Bang Saray, Thailand, mixed by Jay Ruston (STONE SOUR, ANTHRAX, STEEL PANTHER) and mastered by Paul Logus (VOLBEAT, CLUTCH, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE).

AVATAR is described by many as a perfect mix between RAMMSTEIN, ALICE COOPER and SYSTEM OF A DOWN — something the band has now developed further with the upcoming video for the title track, “Hail The Apocalypse”.

AVATAR gained much attention when it comes to its creativity in videos, which are always produced by the bandmembers themselves.

“Hail The Apocalypse” track listing:

01. Hail The Apocalypse
02. What I Don’t Know
03. Death Of Sound
04. Vultures Fly
05. Bloody Angel
06. Murderer
07. Tsar Bomba
08. Puppet Show
09. Get In Line
10. Something In the Way
11. Tower

Since the release of the band’s last CD, “Black Waltz”, AVATAR has had massive success all over the world. The singles “Smells Like A Freakshow” and “Let It Burn” peaked on No. 26 on U.S. commercial rock radio charts, where they also stayed for several weeks well ahead of more established bands in the scene. This was followed by extensive and successful U.S. tours.

The biggest break through came when AVENGED SEVENFOLD personally picked AVATAR as support band on their sold-out arena tour in Europe late 2013. AVATAR got a reception far beyond expected by the crowds, which resulted in bookings on high profiled festivals such as Download festival and Rock On The Range in 2014, among own headline dates of which most are soon sold out. More high-profile tours and festivals are soon to be confirmed.

AVATAR is:

Johannes Michael Gustaf Eckerström – Vocals
John Alfredsson – Drums
Kungen – Guitar
Tim Öhrstrom – Guitar
Henrik Sandelin – Bass

A three-minute “blooper reel” filmed during DREAM THEATER guitarist John Petrucci and singer James LaBrie‘s recent European promotional tour for their new, self-titled album can be seen below.

“Dream Theater” — the band’s 12th studio release overall, and fourth with Roadrunner Records — will be released on September 24. The nine-track disc was recorded at Cove City Studio in Glen Cove, Long Island, with Petrucci producing and Richard Chycki engineering and mixing. It’s the band’s second album with drummer Mike Mangini, and the first one on which he was a part of the writing process from Day One.

“Dream Theater” will be available in a wide range of distinctive versions, including standard and special edition CDs, 180-gram double LP, and a limited-edition boxed set.

DREAM THEATER will be on tour in Europe in January and February 2014, and in North America in March 2014.

“Live At Luna Park”, DREAM THEATER‘s live concert, which was previously scheduled for release in May via Eagle Rock Entertainment, will now drop in North America on November 5 as a Blu-ray, 2DVD, 2DVD + 3CD, Blu-ray + 3CD, deluxe edition with 40-page book, Blu-ray + 2DVD + 3CD, and digital video via iTunes.

“Live At Luna Park” was filmed over two nights in South America — home to one of DREAM THEATER‘s most ardent fanbases. The DVD was filmed August 19 and August 20, 2012 at Estadio Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina after a 15-month world tour, hitting 35 countries.

Queens, New York-based deathcore act EMMURE will enter the studio later this year to begin recording its sixth full-length album for a spring 2014 release via Victory Records.

EMMURE will close out 2013 by headlining the Never Say Die! tour in Europe (October 4-26) and then a full U.S. tour (October 29 – November 22) alongside ASKING ALEXANDRIA, SEVENDUST, ALL THAT REMAINS and FOR TODAY.

Comments EMMURE guitarist and founding member Jesse Ketive: “We couldn’t be happier to announce that following Never Say Die! and the ASKING ALEXANDRIA tour, we will be heading into the studio to work on the new album which is aimed for a spring release!

“We have been working hard in between our rigorous world touring schedule this past year and a half and we can’t wait to unveil new material.

“We have re-signed to Victory Records and there will be a lot of new things developing for EMMURE through the end of the year.

“Thank you for your constant support through the years and we promise to deliver one of the best EMMURE records to date. See you on tour.”

EMMURE‘s fifth full-length album, “Slave To The Game”, was released in April 2012 via Victory Records. The CD was recorded with producer Joey Sturgis (ASKING ALEXANDRIA, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA), who previously worked with the band on 2011’s “Speaker Of The Dead”.

“Slave To The Game” marked the recording debut of EMMURE‘s new drummer, Mark Costillo, who has previously played with BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME and BURY YOUR DEAD.

In an interview with Alternative Press, EMMURE vocalist Frank Palmeri stated about “Slave To The Game”, “I think this record is just brutal-sounding. It’s got everything I think that people expect from us — and I mean that in the sense that we kind of gave people, or at least for ourselves, more of what we felt the music should be from EMMURE. I’m probably making no sense right now. [laughs] It’s just a heavy fucking record. It’s another EMMURE record that hopefully people get to enjoy with us, because we dig it and that’s what it comes down to. We just make albums we try to enjoy and hopefully people can come along for the ride.”

When asked what Joey Sturgis brought to the recording this time around, Palmeri said, “He’s got kind of amazing input as far as the music goes and his creative mind. He’s a pro at what he does. Honestly, as far as heavy music goes right now — especially with this new age of bands that have come up and become so popular — a lot of their success is owed to Joey Sturgis. He’s not only such a talented engineer and producer, but he’s just a creative person all around that really brings something extra to the table when something is lacking or even perhaps just a new fresh mind to material that maybe bands themselves weren’t aware of. It’s always good to have an outside perspective from someone who is just talented. It paid off for us on our last album and I think this one as well.”

On August 10, Redd of Bloodstock Radio conducted an interview with guitarist Jean-François Dagenais of Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based death metallers KATAKLYSM at the Bloodstock Open Air festival at Catton Park, Derbyshire, United Kingdom. You can now watch the chat below.

KATAKLYSM will embark on a European headlining tour in January 2014. Support on the trek will come from KRISIUN and FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE.

“It’s been almost three years since our last club tour in Europe and we are so excited to come back and blow off the roof of every club next January and February,” says Iacono. “We’ve built an album that will stand the test time and will need many headbangers, body surfers and mosh pits to give it justice and we are building a special show that you will never forget. This time, after almost a decade we have decided to tour the U.K. as well, after seeing the reactions at this year’s Bloodstock Open Air. There’s no doubt it’s time to come destroy. Raise your pints!”

KATAKLYSM‘s new album, “Waiting For The End To Come”, will be released on October 29 in North America via Nuclear Blast. The artwork by Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, HATEBREED) will be featured on the deluxe digipak and LP versions of the effort. The previously released cover by Peter Sallai (SABATON) will be featured on the standard jewel case and limited edition cassette tape versions.

“This other version of the new art made by Eliran Kantor represents a more iconic and epic approach,” commented Iacono. “A man representing all of humanity, shaking the foundation of existence and ultimately beginning the process of destruction. The main foundation is depicted here as the famous KATAKLYSM ‘tribal sun’ logo. It does not represent the end of KATAKLYSM by any means; more the beginning of a new era after the end of a certain existence.”

The follow-up to 2010’s “Heaven’s Venom”, “Waiting For The End To Come” was recorded by KATAKLYSM guitarist Jean-François Dagenais, who has previously worked with MALEVOLENT CREATION, MISERY INDEX and DESPISED ICON, among others, and mixed by Chris “Zeuss” Harris (SUFFOCATION, HATEBREED, ARSIS).

As previously reported, KATAKLYSM has recruited ex-NEURAXIS drummer Oli Beaudoin to sit behind the kit during the recording sessions for “Waiting For The End To Come”. Beaudoin is also playing all of KATAKLYSM‘s currenty announced shows.

Drummer Max Duhamel announced on April 8 that he was taking a break from KATAKLYSM to deal with issues related to alcohol abuse.
