Tony Iommi: He is IRON MAN!

Black Sabbath icon Tony Iommi appeared on flagship BBC talk show HARDtalk this week, having to answer some pretty difficult questions on Sabbath’s legacy, their oft misunderstood affiliation with Satanism and the controversy that has often accompanied their music, imagery and lyrics.

“When we did the first album the record company did the cover, and that’s what done it – the inside was an upside-down cross and that’s what started everybody off,” Tony explains of the media’s reaction to Sabbath’s supposed “occult dabblings”. “All I do is create music. I don’t create anything to destroy people or to upset anybody. It’s helped more people.”

Check out a clip of the interview here

Black Sabbath are currently surfing a new wave of triumph following their awesome comeback album 13 going to Number 1 both here in the UK and on the US Billboard 200 in its week of release, as well as notching the Album Of The Year award (alongside Sabbath’s Best UK Band gong) at this year’s Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards!
