Due to a U.S. “immigration administrative delay,” MPIRE OF EVIL (formerly PRIMEVIL) — the band formed in 2010 by ex-VENOM members Jeff “Mantas” Dunn (guitar) and Tony “The Demolition Man” Dolan (bass, vocals) — has been forced to cancel its participation in the proposed North American tour with RAVEN. MPIRE OF EVIL says in a statement: “Applications were made in time for visas. However, a clerical error that came to light too late meant re-application, and this would have meant missing the whole of the dates planned. RAVEN will still be appearing on the tour, but MPIRE of EVIL apologize and have no control in this case but have rescheduled and will be there in March/April 2014.”

Fan-filmed video footage of MPIRE OF EVIL performing the VENOM classic “Withing Hour” on July 25 at the Headbangers Open Air festival in Brande-Hörnerkirchen, Germany can be seen below.

MPIRE OF EVIL recently filmed a video for the song “Taking It All” from its “Crucified” album.

“Crucified” came out on May 7 via Deadline Music (a subsidiary of Cleopatra Records). The booklet includes art by Mantas, lyrics and band pics.

“Crucified” bulldozes through eleven tracks — including nine re-recorded versions of VENOM tracks from Dolan’s time with the group — opening with the driving “Temples of Ice” and not taking its foot off the gas through the closing beast, “Taking It All” (which includes the perfect anti-chant). The riffs are dense and mighty, rhythms propulsive, and the vocals relentlessly intense. The record takes on dystopian themes of destruction, evil, and corruption and in the case of pointed tracks like “Blackened Are The Priests”, all three.

After completing a successful U.S. tour with drummer Marc Jackson (who replaced Antony “Antton” Lant last year), MPIRE OF EVIL in May 2012 announced that Marc had joined the group on a permanent basis.

MPIRE OF EVIL released its full-length debut, “Hell To The Holy”, on March 26, 2012 via Scarlet Records. The CD was produced by Mantas and features cover artwork by Gyula Havancsák (ANNIHILATOR, DESTRUCTION, GRAVE DIGGER).

MPIRE OF EVIL last year completed a North American tour with fellow British thrashers ONSLAUGHT.

AXEWOUND, the project featuring Matt Tuck (BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE) on guitar and vocals, Liam Cormier (CANCER BATS) on lead vocals, Mike Kingswood (GLAMOUR OF THE KILL) on guitar, Joe Copcutt (RISE TO REMAIN) on bass, and Jason Bowld (PITCHSHIFTER, KILLING JOKE) on drums, has commenced work on material for its sophomore album. Tuck tweeted earlier today (Monday, August 19): “Can’t wait to get back in studio with the ladz.”

AXEWOUND was forced to cancel its North American tour at the end of 2012 because the bandmembers were “unable to obtain the proper visas” in time for the trek.

The group’s debut album, “Vultures”, was released in the U.S. last October via The End.

AXEWOUND is an outlet for the musicians to make music that is more extreme than they can and do in their regular bands. Their inspirations for doing so hark back to a golden generation of metal acts — to such heavyweight names as PANTERA and SLIPKNOT.

The roots of AXEWOUND go back to 2010, when Jason Bowld filled in for BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE drummer Michael “Moose” Thomas on a brace of shows. He and Tuck kept in touch and last year began discussing working together on a project separate from the hugely successful Welsh metallers. They eventually got together in December 2011 to write the songs that make up AXEWOUND‘s debut album, “Vultures”.

Cormier was the obvious choice to front and pen lyrics for these songs. He and Tuck had been friends for years, CANCER BATS having supported BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE on numerous tours.

Nile has checked in with the following announcement about canceling the band’s previously announced shows in India:

“We are extremely sad to inform this to our fans in India that our tour of India has been called off as the visas for 3 of the members were refused today by the Indian Embassy in Washington D.C.

“2 people in the travel party were granted the visas in Houston and in Athens, but the rest were not – for reasons that none of us know. The Indian embassy has not cited any reasons for rejection of the visas.

“It was and is beyond the control of the band, either of the promoters or the artist management. We did all we could to make this happen and tried working on getting the 3 visas for almost a month!

“The promoters – Dream Rigs Entertainment (Delhi) and Obliquity India, Lanyard Entertainment and ARK Events (Bangalore) want all fans to know who have booked tickets ‘online’ that they shall be refunded in full by the respective ticketing companies for Delhi and Bangalore concerts. But this is not the end and all of us are going to try to get Nile back to India.”

Nile is currently set to release the new album “At The Gate of Sethu” later this year.

French black metal act Nocturnal Depression has issued the following announcement about playing the Satansburg festival:

“I, Lord Lokhraed, want to clarify one thing. I’m not and will never use a Facebook profile for me personally. It seems that one guy is wearing my mask on this pathetic website where boring and useless people enjoy to tell every shitty thing of their worthless live. The only profile I use is mine on myspace…

“We are really honoured and proud to headline the Satansburg Fest PT II in St Petersburg this December. We received a lot of mails from russian fans waiting for our coming. Actually we are working on getting visas for walking upon Russian soil.

“It’s a kind of complicated things and we’ll do the best we can to get it quickly. The Satanburg fest will be exceptionnal for us : we will perform for the first time with the Cult of Negation line-up : Lord Lokhraed + Khrane + Morkhod due to our session guitarist missing… We will play some exclusive tracks.”

Due to problems with the ghouls’ visas, Swedish heavy rock band Ghost will not be able perform on the upcoming tour with Enslaved and Alcest. The band will do its best to return for a full U.S. tour in the future.

A statement on the Ghost Facebook page reads as follows:

“Due to some last minute complications with our visas, we have been forced to cancel our North American tour.

“We are sorry towards the other bands on the tour, Enslaved and Alcest. And we are most of all tremendously sorry towards all of our fans.

“This is truly beyond our control and we are making everything within our (His) powers to be able to come back to the US as soon as possible and perform for all of you. Our most malicious of wishes.”

After previously announcing a string of Chinese live shows, Ole Vistnes of Tristania has now checked in with the following update about canceling the tour:

“Tristania has been forced to cancel the upcoming tour in China. The tour was supposed to take place between July 20th and 30th and run through 5 different cities. We are extremely sorry it had to come to this, but as we prepared for the tour, there was several strong indicators that something was not right.

“We did not get the appropriate visas, there was a contract infringement regarding the flight tickets, and it was clear that the level of communication between the promoter and the venues was not professional. All in all there was no other choice but to cancel the dates. On the hopes of new dates in China, we were really looking forward to the trip, and we really hope we can go to China and the far East soon.”

Additional details on any rescheduled tour dates will be announced as they are made available.
