Radiosuicide Photography‘s RSPTV conducted an interview with drummer Matt Greiner of AUGUST BURNS RED on September 15 in Gothenburg, Sweden. You can now watch the chat below.

After wrapping up a momentous summer that included a Billboard Top 10 debut for its latest album, “Rescue & Restore”, and a mainstage spot on Warped Tour, AUGUST BURNS RED is preparing to unveil its next offering, a brand-new DVD entitled “Foreign & Familiar” to release this fall. The documentary chronicles the entire 18-month touring cycle behind the band’s breakout 2011 album “Leveler”, whose critical and commercial success catapulted the band to the forefront of the modern heavy music scene.

From headlining tours of North America, Europe, Japan and Australia — with stops in New Zealand, Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and more along the way — “Foreign & Familiar” shows the globetrotting metal titans doing what they do best in settings all over the world.

‘Foreign & Familiar’ has literally been three years in the making,” explains guitarist JB Brubaker.

“It’s no small task to try and squeeze 18 months of touring into a two-hour package, but that’s exactly what we have here.

“I am grateful that we were able to pull this DVD together, as this is something we’ll all be able to look back on as old men and remember the good ol’ days.

“I think anyone who cares about this band will find ‘Foreign & Familiar’ to be an entertaining and insightful behind the scenes look at AUGUST BURNS RED on the road.”

AUGUST BURNS RED is also pleased to announce the Endless Chicago Weekend event on November 22 and 23, featuring back-to-back shows at Chicago’s House of Blues and, for fans holding a weekend pass, early entry on Saturday to attend an exclusive screening of “Foreign & Familiar”, followed by a question-and-answer session and meet-and-greet with the band.

“Chicago has almost been a home away from home for AUGUST BURNS RED,” says Brubaker. “From the Beat Kitchen and Reggie’s to our many stops at the House of Blues and even Riot Fest, Chicago has consistently been a tour stop we most look forward to playing. We wanted to make our stop in Chicago this fall extra special. Certainly looking forward to spending some extra time in the Windy City!”

AVENGED SEVENFOLD took part in a question-and-answer session earlier today (Tuesday, August 27). The session, which was hosted by Nicole Alvarez of the Los Angeles radio station KROQ, took place at the Warner Bros. Records Patio in Burbank, California and is now available for viewing below.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD recently notched the fifth No. 1 single of the band’s career with “Hail To The King”, the title track of its newly released album. What sets AVENGED SEVENFOLD apart from a number of other current rock acts is that they have not used outside songwriters to help them write songs for the radio. In fact, singer M. Shadows told The Pulse Of Radio it never occurred to them. “I didn’t even know many rock bands used other writers,” he said. “I knew they did in the past — I knew Alice Cooper used to and, you know, AEROSMITH would use other writers. Coming from Warped Tour and the punk rock background that we came from, it never even crossed our mind. To us, it’s like, we try to create our art, and if we don’t have that creative outlet and it’s not working, I’d rather just wait it out until something that we want to say and we want to put down comes. But bringing in another writer never, ever crossed our mind.”

“Hail To The King”, the band’s sixth studio album, arrived on August 27.

The CD is AVENGED SEVENFOLD‘s follow-up to 2010’s chart-topping “Nightmare”.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD will begin a fall headlining North American tour on October 3 in Chicago, concluding on October 26 in Las Vegas. Support on the road trip will come from DEFTONES and GHOST.

Machine Head have no issues with fake amps

Machine Head have waded into the recent storm caused by Black Veil Brides using fake amps as a part of their stage show, and as any sane people would, they’ve pointed out that it’s something that’s been a part of rock ‘n’ roll shows for decades.

Responding to a boneheaded article by 95.5 FM, KLAQ Official that attempted to “oust” MH for using dummy cabs on stage themselves, the band posted the following statement:

“DOES MACHINE HEAD USE FAKE AMPS?
————
Wow?

While it seems absurd that El Paso, Texas based radio station 95.5 FM, KLAQ Official would choose to go through the effort to post this on their website, we guess in-light of the big hub-bub about Black Veil Brides getting “called out” by the drummer for The Bronx for having “fake cabs” on the Warped tour earlier this month, some “brain-donor” over at the station has decided to drop the “newsflash of the century” and “call out” Machine Head for having “fake amps” too! A practice that for over 40 years now has been common-place in rock ‘n roll going back to the days of Van Halen and AC/DC.

For the record, Machine Head “back” ANY band that uses dummy cabs in hopes of giving their fans a better, more impressive show. That includes the Black Veil Brides, who like many young musicians (and Machine Head) use direct-to-PA amp modeling gear like Fractals and Kempers. At least Black Veil Brides are playing their instruments, and not waving their hands along to a fucking laptop!!

BVB were subject to a pretty unnecessary shitstorm

Machine Head have 2 cabinet set-carts in the shape of our diamond logo, we use half of the 4 cabs for live sound, the ones labeled “live” in the “smoking gun photos” are actually that, a real LIVE cabinet, that’s plugged in (as you can see in the photo), that make sound, have real speakers, plug into a “real amp”, and has a mic in front of it that sends our face-melting guitar tones out to the crowd via the PA. The ones that our guitar techs labeled (for some reason, in bright green flourescent gaff tape)”dummy” are actually real cabs too, with real speakers and everything, but we only have so many amps to power them, and really who gives a shit, because ALL the cabs are REAL!!

Quick history lesson for grizzled 24 year-old heavy metal veteran Lisa Sanchez: Since the dawn of heavy music, bands have used dummy cabinets as part of an often-impressive looking stage design. When Slayer played the Mayhem Festival last year and had 2 giant upside-down crosses made out of Marshall cabinets, that lit on fire, guess what? They weren’t all plugged in!

When Rob Halford of Judas Priest rides his Harley thru a swinging gate of Marshall stacks, guess what? Those are “dummies” too. In fact, the only “dummy” here is the one taking pictures, taking liberties, while standing on our stage, as our uninvited guest, and writing up the “controversial scoop”, and then Tweeting and Facebooking about it.

How about calling out someone for something that really matters instead of bands who are only helping people escape for a little while?

What exactly are you trying to do here?

Here’s what, you’re attempting to create a controversy to get hits on your website, and this response should do just that. In fact, we’re already giving you and your radio station website too much traffic via this response.

Hope you enjoy the free press.

You’re welcome!

– Robb and Phil”

So that’s that. Machine Head recently unveiled their new bassist after the departure of Adam Duce and will soon get fully stuck into a brand new album.
