KILLER BE KILLED, the new band comprised of Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, ex-SEPULTURA), Greg Puciato (THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN), Troy Sanders (MASTODON) and Dave Elitch (ex-THE MARS VOLTA), will release its self-titled debut album on May 13 (one day earlier internationally) via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The CD was produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur, whose credits include work with GOJIRA, LAMB OF GOD, HATEBREED, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, ESCAPE THE FATE, P!NK and STEVE EARLE. Cover art and packaging was executed by Ryan Clark of Invisible Creature Design, the Grammy-nominated design firm whose clients include ALICE IN CHAINS, FOO FIGHTERS, CHRIS CORNELL, DEVILDRIVER, MONSTER MAGNET, WOLFMOTHER and DEMON HUNTER.

“He’s a Polish worker in the back of a dark truck, but he looked like a criminal to me,” explains Clark about his choice for the cover’s image. “Multiplying his face seemed to give him a sort of split personality/schizophrenic vibe, which feels like a good mesh. Not just for the band name but the idea of a (for the lack of a better term) supergroup.”

“Killer Be Killed” track listing:

01. Wings of Feather And Wax
02. Face Down
03. Melting Of My Marrow
04. Snakes of Jehova
05. Curb Crusher
06. Save The Robots
07. Fire To Your Flag
08. I.E.D.
09. Dust Into Darkness
10. Twelve Labors
11. Forbidden Fire
12. Ghosts Of Chernobyl (vinyl-only bonus track)

MetalSucks placed Puciato at #1 on their list of the Top 25 Modern Metal Frontmen, but he also expresses himself through the dark electro-pop of THE BLACK QUEEN, together with NINE INCH NAILS touring guitarist Josh Eustis of TELEFON TEL AVIV and Maynard James Keenan‘s PUSCIFER. Puciato made a guest appearance in 2012 with MIXHELL, the DJ project of Max‘s brother, SEPULTURA co-founder Igor Cavalera.

Cavalera is no stranger to collaborations, of course, having invited multiple guests onto SEPULTURA‘s genre-defining “Roots” and SOULFLY‘s gold-selling debut album in 1998. One such SOULFLY guest, Chino Moreno, has often joined Puciato onstage with both THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN and DEFTONES. Max was one-half of the incendiary NAILBOMB, together with English record producer and FUDGE TUNNEL mastermind Alex Newport. The pair released one studio album in 1993 and performed a blistering set at the Dynamo festival in 1995.

“We did the song on SOULFLY‘s ‘Omen’ and then we started talking about doing an entire album together, the way he had with Alex Newport,” Puciato explains. “We eventually got together with some riffs we both had and wrote a bunch more material in a 72-hour blast out in the desert. We left with about 15 demos we made using the same drum machine and four track Max used working on ‘Chaos A.D.’

Cognizant of the reputation both of them have cultivated after working with some of the world’s best drummers, Puciato called upon David Elitch, who had toured internationally with the mind-bendingly psychedelic group THE MARS VOLTA. His expertise in everything from jazz to metal has led to live and studio collaborations with a diverse range of major artists including Justin Timberlake, French electronic wizards M83 and Norwegian singer-songwriter Susanne Sundfør.

KILLER BE KILLED has come together even as their main projects hit a collective stride: Max just released his ninth studio album with SOULFLY, “Savages”, to many of the strongest reviews of his legendary career. THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN‘s “One Of Us Is The Killer” debuted at #1 on Billboard‘s Hard Rock Album chart earlier this year. MASTODON‘s most recent album, “The Hunter”, was Album Of The Year in Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, Rock Sound, Classic Rock, Terrorizer and Total Guitar in 2011.

MASTODON and THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN have toured together many times. During one such tour in the U.S., in late 2011, Puciato was telling Sanders about the new project. Before too long, Sanders and Cavalera were meeting at a festival in South America for the first time: “Hey, I’m Troy. And I think we’re in a band together.”

The electric chemistry was apparent the first time they all assembled. “Having met, created and recorded an album together, this experience has easily exceeded my initial expectations,” says Sanders. “The collective energy and mutual respect for one another eased the entire process and has been very therapeutic for me.”

Renowned U.K.-based international rock festival booker and artist manager Seven Webster, owner of 7pm Management (worldwide manager of SKINDRED and booker of festivals such as Hard Rock Hell, Hammerfest and other events) has teamed up with A&R Worldwide and MUSEXPO founder and president Sat Bisla (who has worked as a rock DJ and was involved in the early support of artists such as WOLFMOTHER, RAMMSTEIN, H-BLOCKX, AIRBOURNE, THE TEMPER TRAP, MUSE and many others) to launch the first-ever Global Rock Summit (GRS) in Hollywood, California in April 2014.

The GRS is an international rock music conference aimed at bringing together all aspects of the multi-billion dollar global rock music industry in one annual, focused gathering with a view of helping to further stimulate a very buoyant but often much overlooked sector of the music industry .

With many global companies working in the rock sector regularly visiting Los Angeles to conduct commerce, the Global Rock Summit (GRS) will encourage these companies to enhance their business and creative activities around the time of the GRS, and in doing so, help draw more business opportunities to all in attendance.

The GRS will unite artists and companies from all sectors of the global rock music community including labels, publishers, digital aggregators, booking agents, festival promoters, media, merch companies, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, brands, PR companies, song pluggers, radio stations, the educational sector and all other aspects of the rock music community.

The GRS also will be inclusive of all areas of rock music, from classic rock and metal to screamo, AOR, alternative rock, black metal, progressive rock, doom, stoner, blues, punk, emo and hardcore. Seven Webster states, “If it’s heavy and it rocks and you want to network, trade and expand your business opportunities, then the Global Rock Summit will be the perfect community for you to connect with the world of rock!”

The conference will run April 4-5, 2014 and will take place in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, where the first Oscars ceremony was held in 1928, amongst many other iconic music and entertainment events.

The Global Rock Summit will feature a cross section of expert panelists spanning a rich sector of the global rock industry. The event will discuss the future of the industry and look at solutions to further bolster and expand business opportunities. The conference will also discuss key topics with some of the most respected minds and figures within the rock sector, plus a number of keynotes with some of the industry’s most renowned and innovative figures. The evenings will feature key artist showcases from some of the best new rock acts from across the globe.

Speakers already confirmed:

* AJ Maddah – CEO & Founder, Soundwave (Australia)
* Andy Copping – Booker of Download Festival UK & Agent Live Nation

* Mike Walsh – Deputy Program Director & Head Of Music Xfm (UK);
* Ron Burman – President, North America, Mascot Label Group;
* Steve Strange – Partner/Agent, X-Ray Touring

and many more to be announced soon.

A&R Worldwide‘s Sat Bisla stated: “After a meeting with Seven early last year, we discussed the idea of working on a rock music conference, as there seemed to be no central rock conference with a global vision. It also seemed obvious to us that its natural home had to be in Los Angeles due to its long and close association with rock music culture. After discussing this idea with influencers in the worldwide rock market, it was evident that there was an immediate need for a Global Rock Summit.”

7pm Management‘s Seven Webster added: “Sat and his team are, in my mind, the best people I know at delivering the highest quality conferences in whatever area they choose to work. So for me there is no one better I could wish to work with on delivering our first Global Rock Summit. Our aim is to help stimulate business within the rock music community in a positive and united environment. We want all in attendance to leave having forged new business relationships and enjoyed constructive dialogue with each other as well as helping define a stronger community and vision for the world of rock!”

The first Global Rock Summit takes place at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, April 4-5, 2014. Conference registration, showcase tickets and more information are now available at

On the 10th/13th of August LA’s most headbanging band Armored Saint will re-issue the group’s first self-titled EP with bonus tracks on vinyl. The track listing is as follows:

1. Lesson Well Learned
2. No Reason to Live
3. False Alarm
4. Stricken by Fate
5. On the Way

Metal Blade Records commented:

“All five songs will be on side A, side B will feature a nice etching! Armored Siant will be heading back to Europe next week. At Sonisphere in France, the SAINT will be playing on the same day as Ghost, Evanescence, Wolfmother, Soulfly, Lacuna Coil, and more. Bang Your Head’s list of confirmed bands includes Arch Enemy, Exodus, Thin Lizzy, Primordial, and more. Dong Open Air also features Napalm Death, Sepultura, and many others. Along with the festival appearances, Armored Saint will be playing three headlining shows with UK’s Collapse as the supporting act.”

Armored Saint’s John Bush elaborates on the dates: “I’m very excited for our upcoming summer dates. First, Armored Saint has never played in France. Not only are we doing the awesome Sonisphere show, we are also doing a headline club show in Paris. About fucking time. Also, we’re extremely pumped to play the Bang Your Head festival again. It’s one of the best metal shows in Germany. Plus, we get to be part of the DONG festival. First time there.

“The tour wouldn’t be complete without playing in Holland, which is the first country Armored Saint ever played in Europe back in 1989; and Zurich, where it will be our first time to headline in the beautiful country of Switzerland. Armored Saint doesn’t tour all that often so come out and join us, cause you’re never sure when or if we’ll be touring again. We’ll be playing songs from our entire catalog as well as from our most recent record, La Raza, which we’re extremely proud of. See ya this summer.”
