Zakk Wylde was in Chicago when the theft happened

A $10,000 custom guitar was stolen from Zakk Wylde‘s tourbus on Friday night.

Zakk has confirmed that the guitar was taken while his bus was parked outside The Chicago Theatre during the BLS mainman’s visit to the Experience Hendrix Tour, an event commemorating the influence of the iconic guitarist and featuring appearances from a number of respected axe maestros.

“I thought somebody might have picked it up and put it in the back lounge (inside the theatre),” he tells the Chicago Tribune. “In 25-plus years, I’ve never had anything stolen.”

The guitar was a Pelham Blue Les Paul painted with his signature bulls-eye pattern.

Zakk Wylde‘s (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE) Pelham Blue Bullseye Gibson LP custom guitar, along with his leather vest, were both stolen last night (Friday, March 14) from his tour bus at the Chicago, Illinois stop of the Experience Hendrix tour at the Chicago Theater.

Fans are asked to keep their eyes and ears open, especially at their local pawn shops.

If anyone has any information regarding the guitar, please contact local authorities.

The eighth edition of the celebrated Experience Hendrix Tour launched earlier this month. These special event performances represent an ongoing tribute to the music and legacy of Jimi Hendrix. Presented by BandFuse: Rock Legends, the month-long tour, brings together a diverse group of musical greats paying homage to the abiding genius of Jimi Hendrix. This year’s lineup ranges from metal legend Wylde, blues icon Buddy Guy, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, the innovative Dweezil Zappa, LOS LOBOS‘ stalwarts Cesar Rosas and David Hidalgo, left-handed blues rocker Eric Gales, Texas guitar gods Doyle Bramhall II and Eric Johnson, funk legend Bootsy Collins, Mato Nanji (INDIGENOUS), and, from Serbia by way of Memphis, Ana Popovic. The rhythm section, as always, includes bassist Billy Cox, the only player, apart from Jimi Hendrix himself, who was part of both the BAND OF GYPSYS and the JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE and Chris Layton, the drummer who, along with the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, was a founder of DOUBLE TROUBLE.

Lemmy: setting sail

Motörhead have joined in the floating festival craze, and in their inaugural stab at it, they’ve smashed it.

It was revealed last month that the first ever Motörboat would be setting sail later this year, and it’s now been confirmed that the cruise will take place from September 22-26, and is boasting some amazing names.

Megadeth, Zakk Wylde, Anthrax and Motörhead themselves are all confirmed for the lineup, as well as some pretty sweet smaller names, with plenty more set to be announced.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY‘s video for “Spoke In The Wheel”, off the band’s new live DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital Video, “Unblackened”, can be seen below.

“Unblackened” will be released on September 24 by Eagle Rock Entertainment. BLACK LABEL SOCIETY mainman Zakk Wylde‘s label home, eOne Music, will also release the audio version of the “Unblackened” DVD under the same name. The double disc release will have six additional tracks not found on the DVD, including two acoustic versions of “Queen Of Sorrow” and “Won’t Find It Here”, and covers of LEON RUSSELL‘s “Song For You” and BILL WITHERS“Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone”.

Since their early Nineties inception, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, formed and helmed by guitar legend Zakk Wylde, has been at the forefront of hard rock. Their penchant for hard riffs and blazing solos has resulted in a slew of hugely successful albums and a reputation as one of the most powerful live bands of their generation. “Unblackened”, however, unveils another side of the band.

Filmed and recorded on March 6 in high definition at Los Angeles’ Club Nokia, “Unblackened” is BLACK LABEL SOCIETY presenting their songs in a whole new light, with greater use of acoustic instrumentation. Wylde plays both guitar and piano, with Nick Catanase on guitar, John DeServio on bass/vocals, Chad Szeliga on drums, Derek Sherinian on keyboards/piano, and Greg Locascio providing additional vocals.

Their stripped-down approach highlights the subtler nuances of the songwriting, without losing any of the fire or intensity. Classic tracks like “Stillborn”, “The Blessed Hellride”, “In This River”, “Throwin’ It All Away”, “Losin’ Your Mind” and many others are still punctuated by the stinging, searing solos that fans know and love, while showcasing the versatility of the band.

In addition to the concert, “Unblackened” is rich in bonus material. A new interview with Zakk, photo gallery, music video for “Losin’ Your Mind”, and a feature with Wylde visiting HM Prison Stocken in the U.K . are all included.

Zakk Wylde: back in the saddle

Black Label Society have finally begun work on the follow-up to 2010′s awesome Order Of The Black, with mainman Zakk Wylde confirming that the riffs are now officially a-flowin’.

“It’ll have all the heavy riffs and other stuff everyone knows and loves,” Wylde promises Billboard. “Order Of The Black was already three years ago, which is pretty insane. But the whole time we’ve been working, touring and stuff like that; it’s not like we’ve been sitting around the house. It’s crazy because back in the beginning of Black Label we were pumping out an album a year and constantly touring. But don’t mind doing it this way, either.”

Meanwhile, BLS are set to release Unblackened, a special collection of live acoustic re-imaginings and a couple of covers, out September 23. The opus includes an awesome acoustic cover of Bill Withers classic Ain’t No Sunshine, complete with bonkers video:
